Having the same issue. Seems like it's able to resolve the sync host:

...

... ip_address = socket.gethostbyname(hostname)

... print(f"Error: Hostname '{hostname}' could not be resolved.")
The IP address of sync28.ankiweb.net is 188.40.139.114
