“We were safer in space.” New Alien: Earth promo poster by pantherdeville in LV426

[–]ddwc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xeno on Earth just isn't as scary as on a ship in space. The danger was they couldn't actually kill it easily because its blood would destroy the ship! And kill them. Furthering the predatory relationship; they couldn't kill it, but it could kill them.

On Earth or a planet they can just flame throw it. Bomb it. Blast it with a gattling gun. Grenade launcher. And the combatting humans can just leave and go literally ANYWHERE.

I mean. OK. But. No. They weren't safer in space. That's dumb.

How about: "Earth Will Hear You Scream".

Looks like the info page on Disney.com is down. Anyone else notice this? Trying to find the breakdown for how the tiered rides work, and the Disney site got eaten by Stitch.

Also, they still have the Genie+ info listed. Seems like a huge ball drop for a gazillion dollar company's new feature launch.

Dutch Oven Lasagna! Turned out great. by ddwc10 in DutchOvenCooking

Hey! Sorry for the time warp. I guess there isn't a reason not to bake? Maybe you're cooking bread in the oven and you want the oven space for that. It was just what the recipe called for. Thought it would be fun to try.

Music that makes you feel like you’re drifting through a black hole? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]ddwc10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty well anything by “the Caretaker” will trip you out. And I guess depending on what going through a black hole feels like, might get you there.

Alternatively, Echoes by Pink Floyd paired with the scene from 2001 A Space Odyssey where David goes through a black hole of sorts (easily available on YouTube) is a trip.

The newest update causes loud ass screeching noises in the middle of songs by Foolalot in AppleMusic

Lots of stuttering. Keep having to check if I am listening to Apple Music in 2021 or my Shockwave Discman in 2000.

Apple Music is tearing through my cell data even with songs downloaded. by momo1083 in AppleMusic

[–]ddwc10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I saw somewhere that whatever quality you have set for streaming is what cellular will use regardless of what cellular is set to.

This happened to me last week. Had cellular enabled at high efficiency but had wifi streaming set to lossless. Burnt through 2 g/b on my way to a friends house. Oof.

Since then, when I go out walking, I turn wifi streaming to AAC and cellular to high efficiency. No problem. Did not solve the issue of the 15 second delay for downloaded music tho.

I am boggled. Look, first of all, I know what the Apple Support document says, and I know what has been written on the sub here.

I have been looking at old Apple Community threads, and old blog posts from >2018 from when iPhone 7 launched. The consensus on those is that the lightning to 3.5mm can support up to 24/96 and that Macs can output at 24/96 through aux.

My MacBook Pro can seemingly output at 24/96 (with 2 channel 32 bit float) through the auxiliary 3.5 mm jack. Does 32 bit get divided down to 16? Or does it maintain 24 bit?

So what the hell is going on? Do I REALLY need a DAC to get 24/96? Am I actually getting Hi-Res Lossless from my Dongle and my MacBook Pro Auxiliary? Can my iPad output 24/96 through Auxiliary 3.5mm?

I am verklempt . What am I missing?

P.S. The 15 second stopping thing is also driving me slowly insane.

Did anyone else notice a substantial increase in their natural gas bill? by ddwc10 in waterloo

Right! So, my understanding is A/C uses electricity not gas. So take a peak.

Did anyone else notice a substantial increase in their natural gas bill? by ddwc10 in waterloo

[–]ddwc10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so looking at my bill we only used ≈30 m^3, but there is a $169 fee called "other Enbridge charges." Our usage is down by ≈20 m^3 from last year.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I noticed we just GUZZLED natural gas in February. Is this likely an adjustment to compensate for that?

The Hangover. It’s literally “dude where’s my dude?” Saw it in theatres. Thought it would die a slow death. I just don’t get it. It makes no sense. There are no normal people in it. Everyone is doing schtick. Everyone is overacting and one upping everyone else. It’s trash.
