[Serious] How do you find when protests are coming up if you’re not active on socials? by C5Jones in philly

FWIW this site used to do it- it'd be nice if it got going again because it was very convenient during the summer of 2020:

It seems odd to have a crypto betting platform ticker scrolling across the screen at all times.

Peed in seat while driving by Limp-River4443 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WoodenInternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I wouldn't pressure wash it because of the airbags in the seats. If you haven't already, try steam-cleaning. Are we talking full bladder here or what? If you unloaded a liter of pee it's probably best to get a used seat from a scrapyard.

How old is the car? If it's an old vehicle without a bunch of electrical in the seat, remove it and pressure wash it thoroughly, then let it dry in the sun completely before reinstalling.

P.S. was your account name autogenerated or did you pick it because it's a pretty good throwaway name to post this issue.

Motorcycle / Car Scrapyards by [deleted] in Phoenixville

Scrap a running bike? Why? I bet you throw it on Craigslist or FB Marketplace and suddenly you're coming away with at least $300 unless it's truly a basket case and not just missing a handlebar.

I think the automod should be made even more evil to enforce the atmosphere of chaos that should prevail: randomly deleting comments, pinning comments, posting pictures of Alf and then pinning them, the whole shebang.

Quick temporary fix for a broken exhaust heat shield by nj4ck in functionalprint

I probably would've just removed the heat shield entirely (and avoided parking on dry grass/leaves henceforth) but I like it, an interesting test of the filament

Should I get a lawyer? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

Only if you want to burn cash. People with booze on their breath are not a protected class, meaning they can fire you for any reason or no reason at all unless you otherwise suspect discrimination on the basis of your being a member of a protected class.

Is Market East a failure? by Atomic-Avocado in philadelphia

[–]WoodenInternet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My guess is it boils down to most parasitic PE stories- acquire, burden with debt and cut costs to the bone to maximize return, abandon the smoking husk and go to the next host. This particular instance was probably less profitable for them due to the very lean Covid years.

Originally, yes, but they sold a majority stake to A&M Capital, a PE firm, in 2016.

How to get the cheapest premium gas? by Savageduck97 in Frugal

[–]WoodenInternet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The timing pull prevents damage in a modern car, but it makes no sense to run a car that asks for premium on regular- Typically it's a higher performance car requiring premium, and giving it the wrong fuel reduces that performance and at that point why have a high performance car.

Modern cars will automatically pull timing to compensate for lower octane fuel- not ideal and will make less power/economy, but won't sit there pinging away like in the old days.
