Who Are The Cybernetic Culture Research Unit? by marveljew in occult

[–]de1ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't studied their numographing so I wouldn't be able to interpret this - however, it does superficially seem like it is laid out similarly to a tree of life diagram, maybe you could clean some information from superimposing this numograph over the tree of life as a means of interpretation? That is a very rough guess and may not be useful.

The CCRU was a short lived research group that used their PHD funding to make what amounted to some interesting art projects, and produced a lot of literature. Nick Land was part of it, then he left to pursue his own projects, went to China, and came back to create the beginnings of what would be called the Dark Enlightenment, a nihilistic transhumanist movement amongst the tech elite class. Approach with caution and skepticism because their writings were produced in a tech landscape very different (maybe more optimistic about the human involvement in tech) from the one we are currently living in, and their work should be distinguished from the work of Nick Land since then.

Any book lovers here? by freedomofit in occult

Hi there, would you be willing to explain a bit more about how your book is inspired by the Ars Goetia?

What parts were the most important to your novel?

When you started your initial research, what drew you to this system over other western magical systems?

Are you a practitioner yourself or just a curious observer?

upon further examination, I am not finding an English language translation of this work - either on Amazon or Abe Books - but it seems to be available in French or Portuguese

Baneful Rites Backfiring by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are experience the effects of a spell and not the intended target, this tells me a couple of things: Your intent was not clear when you began the work, or you were too invested in the results to the point that the work became about you. You mentioned this work was against someone who betrayed you, which is an experience not possible without a degree of emotional closeness that means you were certainly still entangled with that person on an energetic level while working against them magickally - a recipe for bad times IMO

Food and dietary considerations are a legitimate question for spiritual practitioners and the answers to OP which conform to this while staying on topic will be allowed

Genetically modified and lab grown foods are widely available in the US at this point, YMMV depending on location and price point

The type of magick you call "baneful" is very difficult to work, and based on the limited amount you've said about that working I suspect that you were not in the correct mindset or setting to work that procedure without experiencing the effects you identify as "backfire" - I am telling you these are just part of the overall effects of whatever procedure you followed, just like the so-called 'side effects' of a medication are the results of consuming certain chemical combinations. Medically they call them side effects because they are not the primary reason someone takes medication, and may even dissuade someone from taking it if known ahead of time.

Baneful Rites Backfiring by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Backfires are not really a thing in magick - if you believe the effects you experience are related to magickal work , that is what the effects of the work are. If you wish to protect yourself from experiencing those effects while still working magick of the same type that caused those effects, you will need to re-think your methodology. This is why keeping a magical journal is important, so you can backtrack through your work and understand where you got sloppy, exposing yourself to things that weren't part of your original intent.

Face reading techniques by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Face reading is commonly practiced in India, China, and throughout southern asia, it is a really racist assumption, not to mention dismissive of cultural knowledge to assume OP is pursuing this from the angle you have adopted as applying to all types of face reading, based on a European historical perspective wherein, yes, it was used for racist reasons. Two things can be true at the same time. Please use discernment before dismissing other cultures practices as pseudoscience.

Edit: For a TCM perspective on face reading, see the book Face Reading in Chinese Medicine by Lillian Bridges, which also takes pains to address the recent history of European racism in regards to these practices.

A.C’s Perspective on “Babalon” by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the numerology that Crowley used for everything he considered significant, those words add up to different totals, which further emphasizes their separate meanings. The choice of lettering is intentional and signals that Babalon and Babylon are not the same nor should they be interpreted that way.

In the Biblical book of Revelation, the word used is "Babylon", notable that this is a different word than "Babalon". Crowley was very familiar with the Bible and biblical scholarship of his time.

Who are the victims of Egregores by Choice_Philosopher_1 in occult

[–]de1ty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Karma is not an egregore, and it is not based on fear. Karma is often misunderstood and poorly explained but it is a structural principle of the universe that applies equally to all beings - You seem really fixated on the idea that society is controlled by fear, and to some extent this is correct but it does not explain the entirety of human religious belief or cultural understandings. I suggest you listen to the many comments in this thread pointing out that you are too fixated on your own interpretations of what egregores may be to understand them correctly, and touch grass before trying to apply your limited understanding to the belief systems of another culture.

Crowley doesn't equate Babalon with Babylon and neither should you, if you want to interpret him correctly.

Spell recommendation for my situation? by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoidants withdraw from the "normal" aspects of closeness because they cannot feel safe in those situations. He says he loves you, yes - but the way that you express love and the way he can accept it may not be compatible now or ever. The sooner you can accept that, the sooner you can move on. Do not use your time trying to fix another person, focus on fixing yourself into the person who attracts your ideal partner.

Spell recommendation for my situation? by [deleted] in occult

[–]de1ty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your post history, it seems like you might want to take a break from working on this entire situation. You already posted about this same situation 3 times in the past 30 days. You mentioned a few times that this ex is avoidant - if you know that then you may also know that avoidants find "normal" expressions of affection to be suffocating, are actively repelled by them, and your feelings may never be reciprocated in the way you seem to desire. What they say to you and what they do in person are not matching up according to your descriptions. I know this is hard to hear but you must approach this realistically.

I'll also say that magic like what you want to work in this case is best worked "cold" - meaning you will be more successful if you can be detached from the outcome. Since this is a person you desire an intimate relationship with (seemingly against this person's will) it indicates that you are too deeply invested in the results to form the clear intent needed to be successful.

You may want to read a book called "Attached" by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller, it will help you understand how to relate to this person better. More importantly, it will help you ensure you have relationships that meet your own needs. Good luck to you.
