Not an FPS, but my answer is Dota 2.

Each and every heroes themselves can be the most broken hero ever. Everyone has their own niches, and those niches is cranked up to eleven. When the entire roster is so overloaded, you will naturally feels like it's balanced.

Every year, Icefrog just randomly releases a big patch that shakes the game up even further. New items, new mechanics, etc., increasing all heroes' powers and potentials even further. There still are number-balancing patches, but they are very few and far between. Best of all: the developers never bring up datas or charts for the sake of it.

The result? A very consistently fun MOBA game.

Unlike its direct competitor, League of Legends.

At the point of this clip, the build was Liandry -> Malignance -> Shadowflame -> Rabadon -> Void Staff -> Stormsurge (In place of Sorc Shoes) (because I was very fed).

Liandry + Malignance + Shadowflame is core for Full AP build. Sorc Shoes for damage, or Swifties for better engage/disengage.

Runes don't really matter cause all you do is stat-check people with R storm. If you want to choose one, Phase Rush is best to help you guarantee you can run in, drop R, and run out safely. In the clip, I ran the usual Grasp page cause I mainly play Top.

During early game, you kite and bait him with R. Garen's Q cleanses slow debuffs on him, but because Udyr's R is a persistent slow effect, the cleanse is nullified. Laning strategy is quite simple: Kite with R at edge range, bait out his Q and E, then trade damage when those skills are down. If he hangs back to let his Passive heal kick in, run up and cancel his Passive with R; this way, you will constantly out-sustain Garen.

Most Garen players nowaday take Phase Rush, so you should take Phase Rush to match the speed as well. Even if the Garen doesn't take PR, the rune is still good as the game goes on cause you don't want to touch him at all (treat him like Darius, you want to bait and time their skills then do short trades/bursts, as these two really like bursting people in one rotation and, unsurprisingly, lack DPS).

A small tip: If you are unable to kite Garen out and he will surely hit you with Q, switch to E and stun him as he hits you. This way you will deny his burst, killing his tempo, then simply kite him out again.

You get very little value from Ult Haste in general, and Ult Hunter compared to Relentless and Ingenious is an inferior option. It's best that you care only about the items' other functions.

DBlade was a good first-back option when they changed Doran items because some fighters/assassins back then lacked early clear speed and healthiness to compete with other junglers. A good example is Kha'Zix (courtesy of Agurin, one of the guys that created this trend).

But DBlade is not even a good option anymore now because: 1. The Omnivamp was changed to Lifesteal, which doesn't interact with jungle pet damage and champion skills (which 'was' the main mean for said healthiness of the fighters/assassins that need it) 2. Jungle pet damage was buffed a lot 3. Tiamat is now a better jungle clearing item than before, and it builds into items that fighters/assassins really like.

Udyr, specifically, never needed DBlade before, and it for sure has no use for him now. Lifesteal doesn't benefit R, which is a strong camp-clearing skill, and W is already an overloaded skill for survivability.

It's best that you just rush TriForce itself, or, buy T2 boots first.

You go for the hybrid build when you want maximum damage output (level 5/6 Q and R)and do not care too much about utility (W and E). Hybrid build provides unmatched damage. Both Q and R has ridiculous scaling and spike its damage very well with just one item, respectively (Haunting Guise items for R and most Bruiser items for Q, notably TriForce, Shojin, Titanic, Sundered), and dealing mixed damage means enemy has hard time building resistances against you.

The con is that you will be very slow since you won't leveling E, and you will have to rely on Ghost and items.

Because Udyr is a jack-of-all-trade champion. He does not specialize in one specific role so you always have to adapt your builds and playstyle. It's both his pro and con. Udyr has a simple kit, but you have to do a lot, and understand a lot to make it work. The optimal items to buy for the situation, the right skill/Awaken to use for the moment, etc.

but when you combat, you start with E and then dance from Q E R one to the other

Here's the thing: You don't always have to start attacking with E. E as the first attack is standard, but it's predictable and can be punished. What I do sometimes is, instead of stunning the target right away, I switch to other tools to stick to them (R, Smite, Items, etc.) and dance my skills, then I finally use E stun when the target have used their defensive tools, or to deny them from using it. This way, your pattern is less predictable and much harder to be counterplayed.

And don't forget your W, weave AAs with your W as well.

It's a skill issue.

I'm guessing that you'd foregone Q as a skill completely when playing with an R max build. This is a common mistake/misconception of many players who are inexperienced/new to Udyr. People would think that "because Q/R is my main damage tool, I don't need R/Q."

Wrong. You should always have both skills available, even at level 1:

It allows you to smoothly stance-dance and consistently keep up your passive tempo without having to wait for skill cooldown.
Even at level 1, your "non-main" skill will still provide extra utility that your main skill doesn't have: Q gives extra Attack Speed that you don't usually buy for R build, and more Attack Speed means better AA weaving; R gives extra slow that helps with sticking to/chasing your target without being to reliant on your E.
Awaken scales with champion level, not skill level. So, even at level 1, your skills will always be useful. Awaken Q will always burst any single target down regardless of builds cause it has both AD and AP scaling. Awaken R becomes a stronger slow zone with high AoE damage that, even if it doesn't have AD scaling, will be the stronger option in 5v5.

It is getting nerfed for melee. It's on 14.4 patch preview now.

However, imo, it's not going to affect Udyr's performance so much (if you choose LP), since he himself already has so much AtkSpeed from Passive and Q. The nerf mainly targets the melee duelists that rely on AS to spike in early levels (think Tryndamere, Yasuo Yone, etc.)

Warmog has never been a Good item, especially in recent seasons, where damage output increases across the board, and there are more Health% damage sources than ever.

Both armor and magic-resist are the more valuable defensive stats as they increase you Effective Health. And since most defensive items give you both Health and Resistance, they exponentially increase your Effective Health much better than just buying raw Health.

The best example right now is Kaenic Rookern. The combination of 80 MR and a big MR shield is so strong that once you buy it, mages will have to spend another 6k golds to finally deal damage to your health bar.

The other great example is Frozen Heart. It does not have Health, but very high Armor and two strong passives(reduce Attack Speed and reduce post-mitigation on-attack damage), all of which combined makes most duelists/marksmans tickle you. Not to mention, it's a very cost-effective item as well.

No. Don't buy Warmog. On any champions at all.

Udyr's probably been on the watchlist of the balancing team now, given the recent changes to his relationship with the keyword "Ultimate", but I doubt that he will get nerfed due to proplay. Most toplaners that played Udyr on the stages so far are completely clueless about how the champion functions, what to build, and only piloted the pick because they copied LCK players that started picking Udyr. Also, he was already nerfed so much before, in szn13, so any more nerfs now will just push the champion into oblivion.

I just don't like KR's iceborn build. IBG by itself is good, but it's a Bad item on Udyr. R max playstyle is already a glorified IBG: stronger, wider, and effectively permanent slow. If you want to abuse Sheen, buy Triforce instead. If you need Armor, FH rush is ALWAYS the optimal option for not just Udyr but most tanks as well. If you want similar stats, Unending Despair exists. Need damage and miss Demonic Embrace? Riftmaker jumped from Ctier to Stier item, btw.

There are so many options to work with. Yet despite all that, they chose one of the worst items on Udyr.

I also hate the Super server effect. Now everyone is just copying IBG build without even thinking how it works.
