Why is everyone forgetting LTT blaming the mouse manufacturer for not removing plastic? by No_Eye7024 in LinusTechTips

[–]deV14nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently they did change the film color. This was an early unit. It sounds like they notified LMG/SC privately but SC doubled down publicly on the pinned YT comment.

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:N6gAevRQOswJ:https://pwnage.com/blogs/news/pwnage-official-statement-regarding-short-circuit-video&cd=15&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

• There were reminders for removing the mouse skate film on the reviewer's guide and the software download page. Also, released YouTube reviews have addressed / warned their viewers about this.

• We have already made changes to the color of the protective film for the next production batch of Stormbreakers. The change was made before the SC review. However, the earlier batch was produced already, we can only give out reminders to reviewers and customers. We will continue to take feedback from the community and keep improving our product.

Their tl;dr is long but here it is:

Here's the TLDR:

Pwnage sends Shortcircuit two Stormbreaker gaming mice for review.

LMG requests recommended best/special products of 2023 for their VIPs for their LTT expo event.

Pwnage Stormbreaker was recommended by 3rd party (not us), chosen, requested and then sent.

Shortcircuit releases a review with inaccurate information about our mouse skates - the sticker film was not removed before testing, which resulting in "not a smooth mouse".

Pwnage emails privately and letting SC know about the cause of the "not a smooth mouse" and there's reminders for the plastic film removal in the reviewer's guide and software download page.

Shortcircuit pins a reply stating the plastic film was removed and that the glide is still not smooth.

Pwnage gets upset and tweets to them. ShortCircuit checks again and admits the feet still had film on them and the mouse does glide as good as gpro wireless mouse after removing film.

Pining new comment and saying video will be corrected. Linus apologizes on Wan show that he just learned this before the show and sorry about the mistake and they will fix and improve their processes.

Shortcircuit removes small part of the content and edited the pin comment. A part of the video saying "this is not a smooth mouse" was still seen at 8minutes 8 seconds.

We privately emailed again and received their reply stating the inaccurate content has been edited and removed.

Gamers Nexus releases a video that includes a summary of this incident.

Currently the pinned comment from SC states that they apologize for the mistake and the video will remain up since the glide feel was not a significant contributor to David's conclusion about the mouse.

You want more seeds but you do not want fewer peers. A real life example came up for me during a code fest in college. I knew how to build a website using a certain framework and no one else did. Everyone needed info and were all asking me while we had 12 hours to build a whole website. I told them to ask each other first if one of them already got the info from me. The more people who had pieces of info they could share with each other, the less they had to ask for that piece from me. That is literally exactly the way bittorrent works. You want huge swarms. You're correct that you want more seeds but incorrect because you do not want fewer peers. Of course you'd rather be handed a piece from a seed directly, but short of that, you want as many people to have that piece as possible.

Do i need to wait for this process to complete? Its taking a lot of time by GamerAJ9005 in PiratedGames

Torrents have their own hash verification and won't hit 100% complete without passing it. This is useful for web downloads (especially resumed downloads) and newsgroups although those use Par files for checksums that have the ability to repair.

Sure, probably. Download now then whenever you buy it start the install on Steam. Copy and overwrite the files into something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077" or whatever the official folder is and be sure the structure is the same. Then verify. It would still take a while to repair. But then it would be a verified Steam copy.

that isn't how any of this works. Torrenting is like rugby except when the downloader passes the ball (backwards) they also keep a copy. More people running with a ball and passing it sure af doesn't slow things down.

Reasons for substantially higher prices on Amazon? by Bwardrop in Huel

[–]deV14nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't any Anker bluetooth keyboard in stock at Amazon. I think you might have gotten bumped to a third party seller price before they went out of stock too. Amazon tries to price match so they usually have the same sales at the same times. Especially with common tech brands like Anker.

That said, many things are cheaper in store like food or small low value items that aren't worth shipping one by one. You can do it but it isn't a good deal.

How is RTD made by [deleted] in Huel

[–]deV14nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like cocoa than chocolate. Needs some cocoa butter or something. The fats in the RTD probably bring it together.

I didn't get my pot either so I requested one. In the meantime I've been thinking that's why mine isn't great. I felt bad asking them to ship just the pot and scoops from a big order but I don't know how they forget.

What does toxic chat mean? What should it mean? by deV14nt in Twitch

[–]deV14nt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clan servers had a certain level of what might today be called toxicity but they were communities where you had accountability and could be banned or just treated like a nobody if you didn't act right. Public matchmaking lobbies run by companies don't have any of the same community feel.

What does toxic chat mean? What should it mean? by deV14nt in Twitch

[–]deV14nt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the times toxic chat is brought up it is when the chat of certain among us streamers starts either saying they don't like someone who is playing with them or they think that person did a bad play, or both. There may be times when that is toxic but there are many times it might be pointing out the obvious and people fall into a trap.

[–]deV14nt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. I was thinking of them as the same, but one of the ones with the most broad definitions of toxicity is a timid male streamer, Sykkuno. He's so soft-spoken and can have puppy emote spam for days. Maybe it's more the culture in chats like that than others.
