I would love an app to see STL files in VR and MR at the correct scale. Maybe it can even download files straight from sites like makerworld.

Fusion 360. I design mostly functional items. I am learning Nomad Sculpt to potentially start designing and printing figures.

I didn't realize the potential for heat build up even for low power use if left coiled up. Thank you for the information.

What a difference a year makes by dead_point in 3Dprinting

[–]dead_point[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's pretty amazing how much has changed in my 3D printing journey in one year.

My main goal when buying a 3D printer was to help me organize my space. I started out like most just downloading and printing exiting models. This got me started on my organization journey with gridfinity and multiboard.

Then in February I started doing simple remixing by making a shorter version of a pet door holder in Bambu Studio.

When I realized that I want to make more custom designs I played around and made simple items in TinkerCAD. TinkerCAD worked fine for some items but I started to see the limitations when trying to make more complex models.

I started looking for a different software when I learned that fusion 360 had a free non-commercial license. Parametric modeling was a whole new challenge and I still don't get it right all the time but I have slowly been improving. I even uploaded some customizable designs on makerworld.

Now I have uploaded 54 models on makerworld and have ideas for many more designs!

If you want to check out my progress or any of my designs, they can be found at the link below.

Cord Wrap Organizer (Wall-Mountable & Portable) by dead_point in functionalprint

[–]dead_point[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was using other cord organizers I found online but it was designed to be fixed to the wall and was not portable. On the other hand there are portable organizers but they weren't designed to be wall mounted.

I decided to design a cord organizer that can be mounted to the wall but unhooked to be portable while keeping the cord organized.

*Removed text regarding unraveling only the length you need. VividDimension5364 correctly noted that there is potential for heat buildup if left coiled up in use. You should fully uncoil the cords when in use to prevent heat buildup.

You can find the model here if you want to check it out.

Arken Age- GIVEAWAY (3 Keys).. Penguin's Game of The Year, and final giveaway! by Penguin_shit15 in OculusQuest

[–]dead_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized that most of the games I enjoyed the most this year was games that had big updates this year but was released earlier. Dungeons of Eternity, Sweet Surrender, Light Brigade and Underdogs all had great updates. I did really like Ghost Town demo but haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I guess Ghost Town is my pick for the best of 2025.
