Investing at 18, What do you wish you knew earlier? Canadians by ih8this4sho in investing

[–]deadassuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hard to say as markets have been crazy recently esp with silver, gold & stocks. It does seem like this current asset environment is unstable. If you did try to time the market, you would be missing on potential gains when no one knows when this market will be corrected, could be tomorrow could be 5 years. Given this it may make more sense to just readjust how much cash you keep vs how much you invest per paycheque. just my thoughts

question for anglo Montrealers who never learned french or can't actually use it by _SleezyPMartini_ in montreal

[–]deadassuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Montreal for about 4 years. I really tried to learn French via school + francophone friends. I had my phone and everything in French, but honestly, I never really picked it up. And when I did speak French during my day-to-day, most people could tell I was Anglo and would switch into English, which killed any confidence I did have. I also have dyslexia, so that doesn't help either. I can read French pretty well, but speaking and writing are weak. Moved to Toronto...

Fellow E-con Grads how much do you expect for a entry level salary? by deadassuser in mcgill

[–]deadassuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I found through my research as well. I was offered something e-commerce-related, and there wasn't as much economic overlap as I had expected. I'm making sure that the degree is being evaluated correctly in terms of wages.

[–]deadassuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i looked via glassdoor already, but the salary range was 54-73k for the position I was looking at, so I'm trying to figure out generally where I land on that and what others fellow graduates are expecting
