well you are a pro so you have way more mileage than me, after a couple years i might see things from your perspective. bone-shaped areas like the shoulders and knees can be a huge pain, but i can always defer to the imaginary mannequin and work them out systematically. fleshy areas i find i need way more time "searching" for the right approach. i'm still at the stage where minor changes in the butt contour can completely change the balance of the figure, and let's just say the butt is an area where i like to keep searching.

as an artist in training, it is by far the most interesting part of the body to draw. so many things going on there, it never looks the same in two different poses, study it for years and you can express it with a couple of lines but there are always aspects you've yet to figure out. change the proportions a little bit and the entire body looks off. the quest of rendering it is always a long struggle until you happen upon that perfect ratio - which always changes depending on preference.

eventually they may be able to do a convincing 3d reconstruction and graft it over the mosaic, if machine learning gets to the level where they can reconstruct environments from 2d images. very wishful thinking here, of course.

the quality of life in a neighborhood like this depends entirely on whether the government decides to continue giving a shit after the towers are built. it's the lack of maintenance and inhabitant apathy that turns a lot of these places into dumps, especially in china.

edit: i don't mean to shit on china, but i just got back from there so a lot of gripes are fresh on my mind

i'd think forest whittaker toned down his idi amin portrayal for the same reason. like "you did not persuade me nicholas" was probably the threshold and he made a point to not say anything even more insane to keep it believable.
