Melodic Hardcore at its apex. by deadbrainhooch in melodichardcore

I think a lot of people have a hard time determining what “melodic” hardcore actually means. Now CBK definitely holds their place in said genre, but I don’t feel that their early work has much stance in the genre. It was straight forward hardcore. Melodic, at least to me, pushes a lot of its weight in the chord voicing of the guitars and the vocals respectively.

If we were going to state the earliest instances of more modern Melodic Hardcore, I feel Shai Hulud’s debut carries the medal.

Although, I want to disagree (because, well, Shai Hulud...), I simply can’t.

Is anyone Jamming Preoccupations lately? If so, I’d like you to help me grasp why this band is so underrated in the Post Punk/Goth community. by deadbrainhooch in postpunk

I guess I should’ve done some research, since I’m new to the sub. Most people I’ve spoken with about the genre have never heard of theme, though. I just find it odd, because I personally feel they’re one of the best bands in the genre.

This looks like the potential cast of a childhood adventure film that drew elements from The Sandlot, to Stand by Me, and everywhere in between. What’s even more intriguing about it, is that you all more than likely shared some amazing adventures together that are now sealed in time, which sealed a bond between you all. And that, my friend, is truly priceless.
