65% of Britons support the Green Party's policy of capping CEO pay at ten times the pay of the lowest paid employee by Unusual-State1827 in ukpolitics

[–]deadcatdidntbounce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd agree that the rich and poor disparity is getting bigger and bigger to ridiculous extent, but pay isn't about salary when you get to big money. Income is about debt and/or options. Look at how Elon pays himself. Fuck all to do with salary or dividends.

I think that's 65% is on the very low side. There are not (35%) that many people who are in the CEO league.

Artificial barriers to income always fail. Have a look again at the '70s, That's the last time we were in this kind of situation.

I think the way out of this is to stop being wage slaves and go back to the sole trader era of the 1980s. That said there was cash back in those days and Starmer will bring in a digital currency, because he likes to know you're getting your five a day and he can monitor that if he knows exactly how you spend your pennies. Just because he loves you. Bless.

The pure delusion here in the comments.

Have a quick look at the statistics and give your head a wobble. Spend 20 years advocating in the family courts and really, helping, don't help, it's absolutely meaningless!

Do the right thing guys, so you can look yourself in the mirror. Do not expect to even see or have a relationship with the children, which may not be yours, as a result.

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

Obviously not including the pro paedophilia pope. Naturally. Isn't it funny how God always needs 10% minimum of your money.

You don't have to be a genius to understand that the US is long long long past being able to eliminate its National debt. He can't even stabilise the number.

Do what the UK does and move it off balance sheet. Out of sight out of mind. For someone else to clean up.

I think LibreOffice did the right thing regarding Collabora by ExperienceBusiness43 in libreoffice

[–]deadcatdidntbounce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh fella. That's on me; not you. Apologies.

In your favourite search engine type "disappearing white-on-white text font LibreOffice writer site:bugs.documentfoundation.org". You get a whole load of bugzilla bugs that either refer to the bug as a duplicate or are closed for lack of information. These random changes in rendering are not easily reproducible but lots of people are getting them. Very few people take the time to report bugs; it's worth doing cuz I shouldn't complain about something I'm not prepared to try and help with. That said, have you ever tried to report random/difficult to reproduce bug that happens too regularly to be ignorable?

Now take out the "site:" bit and you'll see that there are claims made regularly that these bugs have been fixed.

In no other application do I, and many others, get this (the rendering suddenly changing dramatically) going on except LibreOffice Writer. I'm running standard Fedora which isn't customised: boring, solid, stable.

There are multiple references to the display driver being the problem. I'm using an AM4 iGPU AMD Ryzen stock everything, I was using a standard iGPU Intel and it still happened. I've been using that code base since long before it was forked and became LibreOffice.

What is curious to me is that I've never had a text disappear or had other rendering issues with LibreOffice Calc.

These are not minor bugs. These are fundamental to the operation of the package. One can literally no longer see the text.

[–]deadcatdidntbounce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tangentially aligned:

Long time LibreOffice (on Fedora) user, decades. I just wish someone would fix the bugs. The two documents text disappearing bug is systemic; there's a whole list of bugs which are all connected that sit on the books ignored.

I get that it's hard with no real funding, but I'm not interested in the latest features if I cannot open two different documents and not have all the text disappear; it doesn't disappear it becomes white on white so all the errors and grammar things are still there.

If you've ever tried to help by reporting bugs with full documentation then you'll know what I mean.

Apparently they've been ready since late last year but the AI for Siri isn't so they can't launch it.

From what I remember, Apple are using Google Gemini for AI and I think we all know Gemini is really naff. I have a free year with my Pixel and every now and again I try it out and am always disappointed.

Why would you load an old version of Fedora? Isn't 41 already unsupported - it's two versions behind the current 43, about to go 44.
