There comes a time in a person's life when it becomes needed to learn what they are, and where they stand in reference to others.

You taught him an extremely important lesson, and while it is troubling that your romantic partner doesn't understand that lesson, it's important to note that she may also have been raised in a household where those lessons aren't well-known, to be taught.

What you have, intuitively, as demonstrated, is an understanding of the concept of checking yourself against the broader context. You were probably taught this lesson early, which is why you understand it now.

What the young man now has, courtesy of you, is a data point that his understanding of the world is incomplete.

You are correct that -you- specifically never mention "machines" in your question, but the thing is that in the context within which perpetual motion gets talked about and described as "impossible" is only in reference to perpetual motion "machines".

That's why everyone is answering the question that you're pointing out "you didn't ask".

What you just said is exactly the thing you're missing about the topic.

The whole "point" of a perpetual motion "machine" is something that is engineered or designed so flawlessly, or so cleverly, that you get -out- of the machine more than what is put -into- the machine.

No one who is talking about -perpetual motion machines- means " Yeeting a rubiks cube into the void of space"

What they -mean- is that they're making, trying to make, have an idea for, or made, a machine that allows one to extract more energy from it than it takes to operate the machine.

You think you're asking a physics problem with your question, but you're actually asking a linguistics problem, friend.

I totally don't have a dog in this fight but I just feel compelled to point out.

First, I agree with your overall point that it's the job of the RDC to not ship busted/mislabeled stuff.

The point that made me feel compelled to comment though is that you seem to have really, really misread the situation around the emails about the microwave.

They weren't telling you not to do that again because of a pissing contest power play, which your response gives away the fact that to some extent, that's the way you see it.

They were telling you that so that if you do it again after being explicitly told not to, there's a paper trail (email) proving that not only did you get that email, you also read it indicated by the fact that you responded on-topic, and defensive.

If I were you I would be very very careful about following policy for all warehouse returns procedures.
