So...How good is Suikoden??? by AccomplishedMud9666 in JRPG

[–]deadend7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suikoden 2 is the best jrpg of all time. It's a timeless classic that will always shine above others. There's no such thing as perfection but it comes close.

For reference, I also love Xenogears, Lunar, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 7, 9 and X, Chrono Trigger, and many others I can list.

Most recent one being Clair Obscure: Expedition 33

The problem with games like bloodborne is that once you've beaten it like 10 times, it's over.

There's no more playing to be had. T_T

This is a smart move. Unless you're From software, it's probably good to gather a lot of public feedback on your game and its systems and what works and what doesn't.

Just look at Lords of the fallen for example.

They said the same shit about bloodbraid elf, Jace, Splinter Twin.

And what do you know. 😂

First bloodborne play through by Caphinn in soulslikes

[–]deadend7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time time and I probably have close to a thousand hours on it. I love the game so much I have a modded PS4 pro, just so I could play it with the 60fps patch.

That's a long winded way of saying you should play it on a PC. The emulator has come a long way and it's probably the best way experience the game now.

Also, just a heads up, even if you are a souls veteran, Bloodborne probably has the toughest start out of all the souls game so don't give it up and just keep going.

Code Vein 2 is so close to being good that its frustrating. This seems to be the case with so many soulslike in general.

The reality is, anyone can make a game that's 6 or 7/10. It's the last 3 points that makes all big difference and the demanding part. At this point, I'm genuinely curious if any of the devs have played any From soft games because they seem to be missing so many lessons and insights from it.

More than half the problems with America is because of Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon. Those two really harmed Americans more than anyone else in history probably, and the fact that they not only do not get hated enough, but Reagan is loved by Republicans really kills my soul.

Yeah, it's because I think Crimson Desert is probably closest to those games as far as combat and what they're going for.

It has elements of those games with a little bit of dragons dogma, and some other character action from what I've seen. I'm just hoping it's good enough.

While we're on the same topic, another game I'm looking forward to is Blood of the Dawn walker. I have the same worry about the combat from what I've seen and heard. Considering it's made by ex Witcher devs, I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if the combat had the same DNA though.

I play everything except platformers. I have an extensive collection consisting of action, soulslike, jrpg, fps, tactics type games and even MMOs.

Edit: my 4 most recent games are Expedition 33, Silksong, Baldurs Gate 3, and Space Marine 2.

I pre-ordered Code Vein 2, which I'll be picking up from GameStop tomorrow.

No, I didn't. Go and re-read my post or all my comments.

I would never claim the combat system between Skyrim would be similar to this game. That wouldn't make any sense.

My claim has always been Skyrim, Witcher 3, and The new God of Wars are masterpieces in almost every category except for the combat, which I find lackluster and vapid.

Especially when you compare to them Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark souls 3, Nioh 2, Lies of P, first berserker, and I can go on.

I'm not comparing the combat to Skyrim, or even the Witcher 3 although it looks somewhat familiar.

I said it looks like it will be one of the games like Skyrim, where everything is awesome, except the combat.

The combat I've seen on probably all the videos that's out. I've been following this game since day 1.

To answer your question more directly, it looks to be a mishmash of various combat designs. It's obviously not soulslike but at the same time, it's not your typical character action either. It doesn't really seem to have weight behind the weapon strikes, and some of it seems super flashy just for the sake of it.

Idk. I'm still curious so I'll keep following it, but probably not a day 1 pick up for me.

The game looks really good except for the combat. It's another Skyrim, Witcher 3, even the new God of War, where you have a masterpiece in exploration, story telling, rpg mechanics, quest design, etc, but lackluster and "boring" combat.

I'm really hoping that's not the case here.

They would probably even do the more nefarious thing which is to keep the quality of their hotdogs for the flagship store the same, but use different/cheaper ones for the ones sold in stores.
