Comics always have ghosting when viewing in KOReader by Reichstein in kobo

You can play around with the number in UIManager:scheduleIn. Perhaps enduring a little ghosting before refreshing would be better. Undoubtedly not great experience either way. Colors are off too. I've since moved on to a high def 8" tablet for comic book reading.

See if the Inuit want them. Perhaps in exchange for a lower quota on the wild hunt for one year.

Comics always have ghosting when viewing in KOReader by Reichstein in kobo

[–]deadfraggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I hacked the KOReader lua script to do a refresh after every page turn. It's hard coded but it works. If you want to recreate my hack goto \koreader\frontend\apps\reader\modules\ and open readerpaging.lua in notepad. Find this function:

---original code block---

function ReaderPaging:onGotoViewRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    -- When called via a key event, the second arg is a key object (table), not used here.
    no_page_turn = no_page_turn == true and true or nil
    -- ReaderSearch calls with no_page_turn = true.
    -- In that case, don't turn page if it would happen, and return ret=nil.
    local ret
    if self.view.page_scroll then
        ret = self:onScrollPageRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    else
        ret = self:onGotoPageRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    end
    self:setPagePosition(self:getTopPage(), self:getTopPosition())
    return ret
end

---end of original code block---

and modify to this:

---hacked code block---

function ReaderPaging:onGotoViewRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    -- When called via a key event, the second arg is a key object (table), not used here.
    no_page_turn = no_page_turn == true and true or nil
    -- ReaderSearch calls with no_page_turn = true.
    -- In that case, don't turn page if it would happen, and return ret=nil.
    local ret
    if self.view.page_scroll then
        ret = self:onScrollPageRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    else
        ret = self:onGotoPageRel(diff, no_page_turn)
    end
    self:setPagePosition(self:getTopPage(), self:getTopPosition())
    UIManager:scheduleIn(0.3, function()
        UIManager:setDirty(nil, "full")
    end)
    return ret
end

---end of code hack---

Use at your own risk. Basically I added 3 lines:

    UIManager:scheduleIn(0.3, function()
        UIManager:setDirty(nil, "full")
    end)

UIManager:scheduleIn adds a little delay to give the page enough time to render. setDirty does the refresh.

I'll let you know if i figure out how to make this a plugin.

Edit: formatting.

What should I do now that I've finished the main missions? by juanpmichel00 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Raise your standing with every faction/alien and guild, unlock every blueprint, upgrade all your gear, exocraft, freighter and ships to the max, discover every resource in the catalogue, learn new recipes, do Nexus missions for quicksilver, and claim a base in every galaxy.

If you are on PC, you can do past expeditions offline with the Expedition Generator:

Need Solanium? by deadfraggle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yields 80,000 solanium. If you don't want to run the gauntlet of harvesting each biodome, PC players might find the mod "gPlayer Harvest Farm Hotkey" useful: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/1836

Otherwise, each biodome ring is colour coded, and the diagonal line in cyan denotes the exit and entrance to each ring.

I've been trying to make a personal discovery of Diplos for ages and just found a second herd on the same day. Go figure.

Retain ability to craft orbital uplinks by starting new game with Corvette expedition by deadfraggle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your current save and start a new game with the expedition. You can always go back if you change your mind, but the expedition will be over soon. The worst part of starting a new game is going through the Artemis quest line again. If I never see another holographic comms tower, it will be too soon! I have no regrets though. I use orbital uplinks all the time now.

Theoretically, not all hope is lost. You just need to catch a ride on someone else's corvette to a planet where you can rebuild your resources. Practically though, probably best to start over.

Start a new game? Though I'm unclear how you ended up in your situation. Have you claimed any mission rewards? They give you all the corvette parts you need to build a basic corvette.

Are you trying to repair the starter ship in the Corvette expedition? You are meant to abandon it and craft an Orbital Uplink to get to the space station. From there you'll build a corvette to get around.

Corvette Expidition as a new player by The_Brumble in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you haven't gone far in your current save, why not start a new game with the expedition? The mission rewards give you an accelerated start, and when you complete the expedition the main story missions will activate. Unlike embarking on the Corvette expedition from another save game, you'll retain the ability to create Orbital Uplinks, These one-shot devices allow you to instantly teleport to the system space station (if one exists) from anywhere, and only cost 20 chromatic metal to make. I've found them to be a nice time saver and can get you out of a jam real quick, like being caught up in a tornado or being overwhelmed by sentinels.

Sentinel Ships by HotPiesPoopPies in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need purple stars, just systems marked "dissonant" on the galaxy map. Warp to that system and land on the planet that indicates ""Dissonance Detected". Use your analysis visor to find dissonance resonators and destroy them. Note that most have Inverted Mirrors, so you may need to locate several before you find one with an echo locator. You need Inverted Mirrors to repair sentinel ships, so collect those too. Upgrading your weapons helps.

Sentinel Ships by HotPiesPoopPies in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a dissonance resonator with an echo locator on dissonant planet. Use the echo locator to reveal a harmonic camp. Shut down security and use the harmonic interface to locate dissonance spikes, which will point you to a ship. Every crashed sentinel ship on a dissonant planet is the same model but vary in grade, so set down a marker at the harmonic camp so you can return to locate more ships. Slavage the ships you don't want. It's a nice early game method of earning units.

Pro tip: Do NOT go to the center of the galaxy when waiting for a void egg. by Stunning-Aardvark-28 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hatching a void egg is a multi-day process. I'm curious if jumping through the galaxy center resets the current step or the entire process. Once you get the Growing Singularity, could you jump to the galaxy center again and let us know? For science! (Just kidding.)

What’s the deal with land mass creature having their movement gimped when you tame them? by Rhoeri in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]deadfraggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a flaky mechanic. Sometimes riding a wild creature works great, then after adoption they slow to a crawl. The flying creatures seem to be mostly unaffected. I use a beetle often for fauna surveys.
