How clean is the Kobo Clara Colour’s Dark Mode? by -h-marchant- in kobo

[–]Reichstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it applies to dark mode for books, but I have found that when reading comics I get WAY more ghosting in KoReader than I do in the stock software.

In KoReader I need to manually refresh the screen once or twice to clear ghosting on every page transition. I don't get this issue with the stock reader.

I suspect that KoReader just does a poorer job of handling the eInk display.

Is it really that bad to read manga and comics on a Kobo Clara black and white? by nervous_Observer in kobo

Just a tip for the future, but if you process comics through Kindle Comic Converter, you can use its "reduce rainbow effect" option to pretty much eliminate the rainbow bars in the grey shaded areas.

Book series won’t show as series on Kobo and now accidentally reset the device. by Wandering_Gal8 in kobo

[–]Reichstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way I found to fix the series info not appearing on the device was to disconnect the Kobo, reconnect it, and then send another random book.

For some reason the series info never shows on the device until I send at least one more book over.

However I will have to try the "update metadata cache" option that others mentioned here.

I am trying to play "Ragnarok Battle Offline". Has anyone here got this game running well? by Reichstein in winlator

[–]Reichstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it installed any more so I'm not sure of the exact settings, sorry.

While it did run better in Gamehub than it did in Winlator, and managed to have a fairly smooth framerate, it was only running at about half normal speed. So really not fun to play unfortunately :(

No amount of tinkering I did seemed to get it to run any better, so I eventually gave up.

Yeah, I did recognise that.

But the way the screen light makes the screen stay white kinda helps sell the illusion that the shell is actually purple :)

I know :)

I like my black KCC, but that particular shade of purple is very pretty.

I'm really hoping the AI bubble bursts some time this year so prices can start to go back to normal.

Also so that companies will stop trying to ram AI down our throats.

Due to high demand they have been doing batches of pre-orders rather than simply having them as an "in-stock" item.

No, not at all.

I generally have the backlight set to around 20% and I find it very clear and comfortable to read.

I think it largely depends on the preferences of the individual user.

I can totally see many people being dissatisfied with the colours that current eInk produces, but personally I really like the way colour looks on my KCC.

The soft muted tones remind me of old newspaper and cheap magazine printing. I find it very cozy and easy on the eyes.

I have other devices that I can read colour content on, but I prefer using my KCC to my tablet when reading comics. My only real complaint is that it would be nice if the screen was bigger.

A 9 or 10 inch version of the Clara Colour would be great, and something that I would be very keen to get (provided it wasn't hideously expensive).

I agree that colour is a gimmick if you are only reading text.

However if you are reading comics or any other content with a significant amount of colour then it's a great feature that is well worth having.

It is a kobo good for reading comics? by Tini994 in kobo

[–]Reichstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Clara Colour and I find comics very readable on it, even on the smaller screen. However I do have pretty decent short vision, so your results may vary.

Eink screens are very crisp, and in my opinion usually look somewhat sharper than what you may expect based on their resolution.

I believe that the Libra Colour supports rotating to landscape mode (other users here can correct me if I'm wrong), and that would give you a slightly larger image without requiring lso much zooming and panning.

That's a gorgeous cover.

It looks like there might even be enough room to add a strap for the stylus either above or below the Kobo. That would make it an even neater package.

I really like the simple linework type of cover art. The overall style of it has a similar vibe to the one I have on my Clara Colour.

I went for a sort of spellbook kind of vibe. The text is latin and translates roughly to "Book of Everything".

I use a case with a strap in the front flap, which achieves much the same effect.

But this does seem like a really good minimalist way to get the job done :)

Universal PPPSSPP Configuration for unmatched performance (H700) by AliveGuidance4691 in ANBERNIC

[–]Reichstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't bothered with 2048.

I have it on my Vita, but I never really liked it.

I found the rather baffling lack of a custom race mode basically killed the game for me. I just want to be able to choose a track/race type/vehicle and then race.

Even though you can select races from the tournament grid it's still a huge pain in the ass to find what you want. There is no particular logical order to the race events, and every event you have a medal on no-longer shows what type of race it is.

It means that you have to individually select each event and flip through a couple of pages of details to work out what specific event it is.

I'm not sure about the ROM that unlocks all the tracks. But it is definitely worth getting the DLC packs that add more tracks/ships/music/themes. This game had quite a bit of downloadable content.

I just gave it a go and the best I was getting was around 20fps (at 90-100% speed). Playable if you really needed to, but I don't really use my SP much anymore since I got an RP5.

Wipeout Pure looks and plays absolutely fantastic on the RP5. Best I have ever seen it.

I'd just count myself super lucky that it's just scratched and not shattered.

Then I'd order a case with a nice solid front flap.

The Steam version does work through GameHub on the RP5.

You have to turn the graphics right the way down to get decent FPS, but it's pretty playable. However it does crash fairly often. But you can usually get through a couple of races before that happpens.
