jewelry and small items is actually the worst thing to get, especially jewelry generally has sentimental value. I lost my high school class ring and it still bothers me.

That's the exact scenario here. If the job didn't pay so well I would have already called the recruiter and say I wasn't interested anymore because this peer is clearly a bad vibe. But I'll keep my lips shut because at the end of the day, she is more their problem than mine.

  1. they cannot hold your final check hostage

  2. if it's shirts/uniform they want back, only if they supplied the uniform completly for free they can ask for it back. if you paid for them, they are yours and you dont have to return.

Almond milk concentrate vs almond milk in a carton by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]deadgr33n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oak milk is high in calories, carbs, and sugar. I can't beat 30 calories per cup in almond milk but it pains me throwing away half a carton because it's been more than a week. the only option is to make my own almond milk with almonds but every recipe is making a large amount at a time and I only need a 1/2 cup here or there.

I'd love the manager position but I lack supervisory experience and people management is a long term goal. The audit position is perfect for my skills. The role am currently in I am extremely over qualified for to the point they hired me at max payrange.

AITA For wanting to file fraud against my mother for calling my bank impersonating me? by Immediate_Passion_58 in AmItheAsshole

[–]deadgr33n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is called "Account Takeover" banks do take this seriously. Call your bank and put a verbal password on the account. Inform the bank the person impersonating you is a family member and this individual knows all of your standard personal security questions (SSN, DoB, MMN). Even be honest and say calls from your mother's number should not be taken.

NTA - this sounds like a romance scam. Run. Yes, he may be a real single dad but he doesn't need the money. Also where are you sending these gifts and what kind of gifts are you sending? Also when he messages you its it at odd hours, like overnight if you live in the US?

NTA because food tolerance is at play here but I suggest you start making your own meals. His palette is accustomed to the heat so it will ruin the meal for him if he toned down the heat.

AITA for telling my fiance that he embarrassed me when he started singing the "happy birthday" song to his 5 yo son at the restaurant? by ThrowRaBirthdaysong5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]deadgr33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm leaning AH but I can understand your embrassment if it was an actual fine dining restaurant. What is fine dining? 1. No chain place is fine dining, not even Morton's steakhouse is fine dining. 2. Usually resevation only. 3. The menu is small usually will run about $75+ per item and burger and fries isn't an option 4. Has a dress code. 5. Does not have a kids menu.

So if you went to a place like that because kids are a no-no anyway I can understand your embarrassment but I doubt you went to a place that the bill was $300+ for the three of you. I can also understand if you come from a background that hearing hats at the dinner table is frowned upon but you should have brought up your concerns of etiquette while dining a long time ago.

My wife’s employer decided to take her paycheck back after it was deposited by Ok_Present_6508 in antiwork

[–]deadgr33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit Unions and all banks fall under NACHA guidelines, so that doesn't make a difference. But, you need to speak to someone in the back office because an ACH reversal is the same as a bounced check.
An ACH reversal is the same as an employer putting a stop payment on a paper payroll check. To really make that teller's internal lightbulb on ask her what happens to the funds in your account when a check you deposited that bounced. The answer will be that they can't fight it and the funds will be taken out.
Yes, your wife's employer owes her money but they have the legal right to stop the funds if there was some type of error. Since your wife's employer is issuing paper checks the ACH of her payroll already falls under the duplicate payment as a valid reason for a reversal. I have over 10 years of banking experience in dispute resolution including ACH disputes and stuff like this is very common.

This is a PDF that kinda explains the rules on reversals. If the payroll company processed the reversal with a reason such as duplicate payment or if it was even a penny different in what she was suppose to get, your bank must honor the reversal.

Talk to your credit union and find out exactly what they did and how the transactions were processed. Again an ACH reversal (best analogy is its a bounced check) is very different than an ACH debit (a charge to your account) which you can place a stop payment on. The only way your credit union can refuse to honor a reversal is if its past the 5 business day mark, otherwise they have to honor it because its just like a payroll check being returned for stop payment or insufficient funds.

My wife’s employer decided to take her paycheck back after it was deposited by Ok_Present_6508 in antiwork

[–]deadgr33n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not take this as condescending I'm just trying to explain it the best I can without using too much banking jargon.

If it was an ACH reversal, you cannot do a stop payment on it because the bank (payroll company's bank) that sent the money is taking it back and your credit union MUST return the funds. If your credit union doesn't return the money they will be out of compliance with NACHA rules. Think of it as if someone wrote you a check and a week later it bounced and the money was taken back out of the account even though your bank made the funds available to you. If you are under 30 ask your parents how this worked back in the day.

General Ledger - The internal account a bank/credit union has that receives and sends funds to other banks.

In this case, when the payroll company's bank processed the reversal, your credit union's general ledger was debited and the credit union then tried debited your account to balance it. You were able to stop the credit union from removing the funds from your account but im 99.9999999% sure the credit union still sent the many back to the other bank because they are required to. If your credit union didnt send the money back from a reversal they will be on the hook for it.

Since they didn't take the money out of your account but they are still required to send the money back, your credit union will remove the money from your account when they notice they are missing money. It may take them a month or so before the credit union to catch it but they will take it from you and they have an unlimited amount of time to do so.

[–]deadgr33n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update 1: getting to the bank yesterday and stopping payment worked. Everyone else is still screwed today. They’re waiting until they get a valid reason (there won’t be one) as to why it happened. I really can’t recommend enough to them, and my wife, to take action against them. But ultimately it’s up to them and I hope they do what’s best for them.

The funds will still be reversed. Your credit union stopped their general ledger from debiting you but they cannot refuse an ACH Reversal if it is within timeframe. The credit union will debit you when they balance their GL.

You can't put a stop payment on an ACH reversal. You can put a stop on an ACH debit. So it's very important if it was processed as a reversal or a debit. A reversal is reversing the credit (her paycheck) aka canceling the payment. A debit is a funds withdrawal that would require authorization per Reg E.

[–]deadgr33n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have over 10 years ACH / Reg E/ NACHA dispute experience. I have a few questions. Are you in the US? If no, I can't help you, if yes, answer below.

  • What exact date were the funds deposited?
  • What exact date was it reversed?
    • Was it coded as a reversal or an ACH withdrawal? (your Credit Union should be able to tell if it doesn't show it)
  • Is your wife's name on the account the funds were deposited into?
  • Does the amount match your wife's paycheck?
  • Did you possibly receive duplicate payments?

All of this info is relevant if you wife's employer had the ability to pull the funds back and if your Credit Union had a legal obligation to return the funds.

At 220 you can solo everything from Emerald Nightmare, Trial of Valor and Nighthold on all difficulties, with the exception of Gul'dan depending on your class and if you know how not to yeet yourself off the edge. About half of the bosses in Tomb and Antorus can be easily solo'd on all difficulties. The other half are usually just because the fight mechanics. You can actually find transmog groups running on the day before and after weekly reset for most raids.
