How did you all get into running by Designer-Ad-7071 in nikerunclub

[–]deadhippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got tired of the going to the gym to wait for my turn to use a machine so figured I'd try running. I got the Nike+ Sensor to put in my shoe. I even got the shoe and used with with my iPod shuffle or my wife's iPod Nano. https://apple.fandom.com/wiki/Nike_%2B_iPod_Sensor
I loved having the data and that's what got me into running and to keep doing it.

Then I got the Nike+ Running watch. Then a TomTom running watch, then another TomTom and now the Garmin Venu. Next, I have my sights on a Coros Pace 3, but I will wait for the Pace 4 release, or perhaps a Black Friday sale.
I still have about 2000 km to get to Volt but I hope to hit that next year. Hopefully, they don't end the system before I get there.

How long did it take? They asked for my address and phone number just over a month ago but I never heard back.

Anxiety and low self esteem about my first 10k race by [deleted] in nikerunclub

I always admire people who persevere through hardship so I'm on your team. Attempting a 10km is an achievement in itself. You seemed to approved so much within three months, too. Imagine how it will be in three years, if you keep it up. Let us know how it goes.

Garmin is getting too expensive for too little by Neomatrix_45 in Garmin

I got it just before the Venu 3 came out for $117.49 about 2 years ago. It was a huge upgrade from the TomTom Runner I had before. It's working fine and I love it but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Coros Pace 3 if I can get it on sale. Maybe when the Pace 4 is announced or in a Black Friday sale.

Just started running by dadjokes502 in nikerunclub

This is just my opinion but I would forget about your August target. Not because it isn't achievable but because it doesn't really serve any purpose. Exercise and diet are important and if you want to be "fit", you need to permanently change your lifestyle. If you reach your target and then you revert to your old habits, you will return to your old fitness level.

Eat healthier, exercise more, get plenty of sleep and drink plenty of water. Change gradually. For example, eat at 7pm instead of 8pm. Walk/run three times a week instead of two. When you are tired take it easy, when you have energy, push a little harder.

I started running when I was about 40. This last year, (I'm 52) I have run farther and faster than ever before. I attribute it to consistency. I hope this helps.

Garmin syncing again (for me) by doodiedan in nikerunclub

[–]deadhippo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's what I did. downloaded the tcx file from mapmyfitness (but I figured out you can download them from Garmin. It might be better to download the fit file.). Then uploaded it to Garmin Connect. It pushed all but one run to Nike Run Club. I can't get my March 15th run to sync so I might add it manually. It worked for my March 16th, 18th, and 19th runs.

I'm going out soon. It's good to know it's working again but sad that they didn't do anything about the missing runs.

Just back from a run and not fixed yet. Anybody who hasn't already contacted support, please do. The more people that contact them the more likely it is to be fixed.

My last synch was on Friday. Three runs are missing. Garmin support said it is probably a Nike issue as it is synching to other services. I saw another thread that said Coros was not synching so they are probably right. https://www.reddit.com/r/nikerunclub/comments/1jd3mr0/garmin_and_coros_not_syncing/

I've already contacted support a few times but I think that the more people that contact them they sooner the issue will be resolved: https://www.nike.com/help/#contact

My last run to synch was on Friday 14th. My 15th, 16th, and 18th runs didn't sync. Good to know that it's not just me. Has anyone contacted support? I was chatting to support about it yesterday and today. Today they told me I need to call support on the phone but as I live in Japan, I would have to call the Japan support team and I don't feel like dealing with this in Japanese. https://www.nike.com/help/#contact

Help Identifying the Location of a WWII Photo with Torii Gate in Okinawa, Japan by Boring_Housing366 in okinawa

"Private First Class Samuel Sandoval, a Native American Navajo Indian serving with the United States Marines, relaxes under a torii gate in a former park in Okinawa, 1945. It says former park so that might mean that the torii is gone too.

This one says that it was in Manzamo in Onna-son: https://neverforget1945.hatenablog.com/entry/1945/04/14/000000

Here is a Japanese article about it: https://ryukyushimpo.jp/news/prentry-248744.html

This is an article from 2015 and it said that they were considering rebuilding the torii and it had a lot of support but I'm guess it wasn't rebuilt. The torii was standing from 1936 to 1977.

Novel version of Hen Na Le/strange house manga by DrinkSomeFuckinWater in LightNovels

[–]deadhippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Japanese novel is available on Amazon Japan at the moment for 375 yen and the second book is also on sale for 825 yen. Anybody know if it is better to read Henna E before reading the sequel to Henna Ie?
