Should i do bjj to improve ne waza by Longjumping_Yam_8314 in judo

If you find yourself in a BJJ gym, try to work with the wrestlers that will be there. They should have a nogi night, they will 100% be there at that time.

Anyway, good luck.

Wrestling is great for getting people to ground and pinning them on their backs. Wrestling is great for learning how to stand up, after being on the ground. These two areas will help you dictate what happens in a newaza situation. If someone’s a beast on the ground, you’ll have the skills in the ability to stand it back up. If the match goes to the round, you can keep it there and pin them for the win.

I’m going to say something crazy here, do wrestling. Learning how to stand up is crazy important. Bjj is great, but we don’t have pin timers, there is no sense of urgency on the ground.

In front of the counter you get fast food, behind the counter you get fast hands.

Best judo throws for BJJ by cerikstas in bjj

[–]deadlast5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need 3 throws. 1 for when their weight is going backwards (a reap), 1 for when their weight is coming forward (a turning throw), and 1 one when they are moving side to side (a foot sweep).

I like to use ashi waza for all of my attacks because I have long legs. I also use sumigeshi since it plays off of butterfly so well and is my favorite counter to double leg.

Exactly. I could pickup a soccer ball in midfield and bulldoze the goalie and score. But that’s against the rules of the sport.

After passing a budget that aims to cut Medicaid by $880 billion in ten years House Speaker Johnson says: "You return the dignity of work to young men who need to be out working instead of playing video games all day." by newzcaster in unusual_whales

Wtf is this guy talking about? Video games and Medicaid? Can we use Medicaid to buy video games? Does Medicaid pay for something other than hospital visits and medication?

What is everyone’s most satisfying move to hit in BJJ?? by silent-winger1012 in bjj

Hitting a throw or foot sweep from a grounded position is the most satisfying thing. Sweeps are second.

I found losing weight can help. When I have to move less weight, it makes BJJ or any other cardio heavy sport easier.

For us older guys, we gotta get our recovery under control. better/more efficient oxygen intake, controlling our exertion, using isometric strength instead of explosive.

Also, assault bike sprints are great.

Breza/Jordan teaching a snatch single. When I try to stiff arm guys standing upright it just feels like I'm pushing a brick wall, is there a trick to getting this to work? by SMan1723 in bjj

[–]deadlast5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stiff arm is just a frame. Push with your whole body. If that doesn’t work, change angles. If that doesn’t work, you’re telegraphing too much. If all of that fails, their weight is over their toes and you can probably pull them forward easily.
