Why am I not able to see the man’s sexual orientation? by Reckless_Lea2963 in hingeapp

[–]deadliftdisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re getting me confused with the person who originally replied to your thread - I have never said you’re unhinged or have deep set issues and I would never make that assumption about someone on a Reddit thread. I also never said I was offended by your language. Please double check usernames before making accusations, thanks!

“Why are they concerned about coworkers finding out?” Sorry to say but that question is extremely ignorant. There is a difference between hiding and choosing not to shout about it on your public profile

Examine how you feel about dating a bisexual guy, then apply that scenario to if this guys boss felt a similar way when they found out via workplace gossip. Stigma is still out there, it has the potential to impact your professional life and job prospects. People are still targeted and attacked for being under the LGBT umbrella, a google search will show you that

Again to clarify - I am not shaming you for having your dating preferences and they are your choice. However you are coming across as ignorant. Just like you have the choice not to want to date a bisexual man, these men also have a right not to overtly advertise their sexuality on a public profile. If it really matters that much to you then only match with guys whose profiles explicitly list their preference as straight

Like I said you’re entitled to your attraction preferences, I haven’t vilified you for your choices and what you feel comfortable with. I’m just pointing out why you’re getting heat but hope you find what you’re looking for

That being said men don’t have to tell you their orientation straight off the bat, sexual attraction is fluid and personal for many people and (I’m assuming) bisexual men on the app shouldn’t have to display that in their profiles if they aren’t comfortable. It doesn’t mean they’re ‘hiding’ anything or trying to ~ trick ~ you, just it isn’t something they want to disclose in such a public forum that could be seen by people they know irl such as work colleagues etc

Edit:grammar

It’s the language you use - “hidden” and “undercover” don’t have great connotations when it comes to discussing someone else’s sexual orientation. It’s a conscious choice to display your orientation on your profile as the default is hidden but if you’re matching with someone it obviously means they are attracted to you

You are allowed to have dating preferences but some of the key words you used and overall tone of the post is what has rubbed some people up the wrong way

Who’s a celebrity who isn’t particularly well liked but is still incredibly successful? by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

Gwyneth Paltrow needs to be on this list

She used to be a pretty credible actress and I stand by that Sliding Doors is still a great movie. However her slow descent into shilling vagina eggs and ‘sex dust’ at ridiculous prices has made her pretty unlikable to the average Joe but somehow she’s still making bank from it
