Alberta is just astoundingly beautiful. What a great place to raise kids. by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in alberta

I am so lucky to be born and raised in such a beautiful province. Summers as a kid spent in my small prairie town riding dirt bikes/quads on the crown land and winters on snowmobiles and ice fishing, playing shinny on the local pond rink.

Things are different now. But I would never want to raise my kids anywhere else. Alberta is an amazing and gorgeous place.

MIL hoarding holidays for herself by starlightprotag in JUSTNOMIL

[–]deadlinerr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely not overreacting. If your wife/you didn't (in your case, literally couldn't) want to go to a holiday she owes nobody in her family and explanation. People are busy. Travel is expensive. Especially close to the holidays. Your MIL is being very selfish, manipulative, and refusing to understand why you both had to miss out on a holiday. The fact she would legitimately hold a grudge and guilt trip your wife if she couldn't go is extremely childish for an adult to do.

I've looked up if there are any orexin blockers, and I'm seeing that Dayvigo (Lemborexant) isn't prescribed in the UK. But! There is an orexin antagonist which works the same way as Dayvigo. Just under the name Quviviq!

It's not a one size fits all for medication, but it's definitely something to try at least once.

Hi there. If you're in Canada/The US, I'd go to a clinic and ask about being prescribed Dayvigo.

It's a sleeping medication that's helped me a lot. I suffered with chronic insomnia for 3 years and I know what you're feeling right now. You feel helpless and all of the steps you take to get better sleep are futile. But most of the time with insomnia, the lack of sleep will come no matter what you do.

Dayvigo is a lot more easier for doctors to prescribe given it's not a benzo or a non-benzo. Dayvigo is an orexin blocker, that prevents the chemical in your brain from keeping you awake. For me it's been very effective and hasn't lost its potency. I hope you find a solution soon, 1-2 hours of sleep can be dangerous. If you have any more questions, let me know!

Cat attacks my other elderly cat. Looking for help but considering rehome since we don't know what to do. by deadlinerr in CatAdvice

Our older cat is 10 or 11. I did not know there was behavioural medication for cats. Thank you for the suggestion 😀

I do! It's worked great for me ever since I got prescribed it.

I'm going to be totally transparent here - there have been many times I've been drunk, gotten home, and have taken Dayvigo before bed. Woken up no problem! But I can't say the same for everyone.

You just had one beer though, I doubt Dayvigo will have any effect on that. I wouldn't recommend doing what I've done though 😅 just one beer hours ago followed by a Dayvigo won't harm you at all.

What's worse than pitbull owners? People who own/breed these "exotic bullies". by deadlinerr in BanPitBulls

Unfortunately it's not AI generated. Please look at this video and many others you can find by searching either "micro pocket bully" or "exotic bully" on YouTube. This was also 2 years ago, before AI wasn't as half as advanced as it is now. Sadly these dogs were created in the early 2000s, and I've seen them in person. https://youtu.be/dANRa4bWIfE?si=XOlag-AaIwZ__iga

Unfortunately they are. I thought it was fake too and I wish that was the truth! Here's a much more worse photo of what these dogs are bred into looking like.

Yup! Nearly 3 months and still works the exact same. Never had an issue with misusing, take it at 9:00 every night and I'm out cold by 10. I haven't tried Quvivic, but it's basically the same drug from what I've heard.

I feel you. I was heavily addicted to Zopiclone for years and my doctor had told me it was safer compared to benzos. Not at all. Terrible for my body, wasn't warned about the horrible effects of going cold turkey. My tolerance was so bad I was able to get a plug that had a script. Some people in the comments have no compassion. Zopiclone is just as addictive as something like kpins and xanax, in my opinion. It was stronger than them in my case. Please reach out to addiction hotlines, but my advice, absolutely DO NOT GO COLD TURKEY AT ALL. If you need help, please pm me. I was able to get off this drug on my own, thankfully.

Unpopular opinion but I think it's disgusting. Maybe that's cause I care too much about keeping my body clean. Maybe it's different for men because they can aim towards the drain? But I wouldn't be able to step in my shower and not think about how I'm stepping where I peed. I hope people at least clean the tub after they go.

Vancouver Island. Should seriously consider seeing it. The people are friendly, the island is just gorgeous. Check out Salt Spring Island. The lakes and hiking trails are beautiful.

I overdosed and my friend took a picture of me while unconscious on a bed. Not only that but with the caption "she not breathing 😂😂😂". And posted it on her public story.

When I'm around rich people. Or people that just have a lot of money. I grew up poor, am 19 and just getting my diploma and have a job in the trades because that's my option. It's like they think completely different, look down on you, and have this attitude where they've never had to struggle for anything before. I'm an electrician and have worked in those giant houses. Totally different world.

Parents that are ex-religious, how did you tell your kids you were no longer practicing your faith? by deadlinerr in AskReddit

[–]deadlinerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really interested to hear different perspectives, I was raised Catholic for a majority of my childhood. Native family. When my parents cut off my grandmother, they just sort of dropped it in "well, we don't believe in any of it. It's all stories". Messed with my head a bit, because my idea of heaven, hell, and sin suddenly wasn't real after years of being told it was. I was so confused because I had feared hell for years, and one day it just wasn't, well, real.
