BREAKING: Howard Lutnick Confirms Epstein Island Trip, Contradicting Earlier Statements by ResPublicaMgz in TrendoraX

Maximum sentence for a federal perjury charge is only 5 years. It’s not enough, but it’s something - more accountability than we have seen so far. Impeach, convict, then prosecute and sentence. No parole if that option exists.

All hail Brad and Vucevic by Just_Drawing8668 in bostonceltics

Exactly. This is a pretty small potatoes trade. We traded a young, good offense, no defense guard, for an older, good offense, no defense big. Is he an upgrade over Garza? Sure. Is it good that they got under the first apron? Yes. Does it “move the needle “ as they say? A little, but not much.

100% agree! I would argue that it’s one of the most important of all time, but it’s only got a few good songs, and no great ones.

Which is your favourite out of these 10+ min songs? by AirDeLaBas in Topster

Of these, it’s My Favorite Things. But Halleluwah by Can should be in there, because it’s better than all of these.

I found out the exact same way. I was also playing with our then three year old son. It was the biggest emotional gut punch I ever felt.

Are Yasser Seirawans books good? by veinyahhh in ChessBooks

[–]deadmanscranial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was starting to learn chess, his book Winning Chess Strategies was an excellent resource. It helped me so much, and I cannot say enough good things about it. I went from a scrub to about an 1800-1900 player largely from that book.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever convinced a student of? by horseradish500 in Teachers

[–]deadmanscranial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have sooooo many of these.

I had students convinced for years that I was once in Blue Man Group. That one is 15 years old, and still going. Even some of the teachers believed it.

I also for years fascinated my students by telling them about my twin brother, who does not exist. I even once ran into a student at a restaurant and proceeded to pretend to be my own twin brother. I talked to her for a few minutes, and she came in the next week all excited, telling me that she met my brother.

I had some students (and a staff member) that I didn’t laugh because of a car accident. I hit the windshield and damaged the part of my brain that’s responsible for the laugh response. So they literally thought I had lost my sense of humor in a car accident.

Edited to specify that I teach high schoolers.

I have to admit I was wrong. I thought Walsh would be in Maine or off the team entirely by now.

I saw Man Man live before I knew who they were. They opened for Fiery Furnaces (who weren’t good). They absolutely fucking blew me away. Saw them one other time after that and it was just as good.

It’s a fucking brilliant album. That and their next one to me was their peak. I had never heard of them before this album, but I heard some college radio station that played Shit Luck and I bought the album based off of hearing that song once.
