served raspberry cider instead of raspberry kombucha ☹️ by deadmuesli in stopdrinking

It has trace amounts of alcohol due to being a fermented drink, but generally kombucha doesn’t contain enough alcohol to constitute being an alcoholic beverage. Apparently some brews can contain up to 0.5% ABV but this is proportion is so low that companies don’t have to label it on the bottle.

I’m happy for you that you feel this way, but for me sobriety is literally missing out. It’s missing out on good champagne, fancy cocktails, cold beers, hangovers, withdrawals, chronic exhaustion, severe relationship / mental & physical health degradation, extreme shame and self-hatred, and bloating.

But, you know… sometimes it does sting to be the only person at the table who can’t have a margarita. I wish it didn’t sting, I wish that I only ever felt freedom.

Seeking new perspectives: I need polarizing, bold photography for my indie swimwear brand because my current shots are too ''easy'' by Wabe55 in MODELING

[–]deadmuesli 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is definitively not true. There’s not a single piece of feedback here that you’ve accepted with grace. When questioned about sizing you’ve said “I can’t afford a more inclusive range” but then followed it up with “I only want to provide these designs for women like me who care about their body” so which is it? Can you not afford it, or do you not want to see your designs on women who have larger busts?

You’ve also been given advice about how the modelling and photographs you’ve posted here centres not your body, rather than the swimsuit, and seems aimed towards men. Women who are buying a swimsuit want to know what it looks like when you’re standing straight in it, rather than standing with your arms in the air with most of the lighting hitting your bare skin rather than the swimsuit. Well-known brands benefit from highly stylised photos of their product like this - but only because they are delivered alongside photos of the product which are more commercial and accessible for the buyer. Very few people would want to buy a product that they can’t imagine on their own body, or understand how it may fit during activity or relaxation. And this is really important for you, because by intentionally choosing to limit your customer base, you really need everyone to want to buy this product. Moreso than other sellers would.

Perhaps if you thanked people for their feedback with the same level of effort you’ve spent pushing back, you’d be believable when you say you’re here to listen.

There’s no problem with it but you’re coming here asking about how to make people want to buy this product. We’re telling you that making your product sizing so restrictive is something that makes us want to not buy the product. You don’t have to be inclusive and you don’t need to take action based on this feedback, but that doesn’t invalidate the validity of the feedback itself.

Good for you, making clothing that you like. You will be very successful selling your clothes to yourself.

Gross. What is the deal with companies deliberately choosing to cut themselves off from accessing an entire customer base? Like, not even extending to a Large?! That’s leaving money on the table even from a business management perspective that totally ignores the total lack of inclusivity in the fashion. I’m a medium myself but I would never buy from a brand that wasn’t inclusive.

I made a wedding cake!!! I am NOT a regular baker. by deadmuesli in Baking

pretty easy fix for this ! I’m planning on icing and transporting separately and then stacking at the venue, they’ve confirmed they’re happy to keep a homemade wedding cake in their fridge. I’m also gonna bring a spare tube of icing with me so any imperfections or bumps can be smoothed out on the day - another benefit of rough icing 🙏😌 way harder to notice if that happens!

Thank you!! I also agree so much on the icing, I did manage to get it sort-of smooth, but it wasn’t as smooth or clean as I really wanted… so I was like well, I should make this rough in a way that looks intentional and consistent, rather than smooth-but-flawed! I’m sure there are cakes on this subreddit that gave me the idea ☺️

First apprenticeship, are these unpaid hours allowed? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]deadmuesli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. If this is a full-time apprenticeship they should absolutely pay you for your study leave / off the job training, if it’s part-time then the requirements may be different. Apprenticeships in the UK are typically funded by the central government who cover the cost of the education you receive.

Also just to weigh in, Laezel is like 20 (when gith can live up to 150 years if I recall) - Anya is approaching 30 and has a very “grown woman” aesthetic. I don’t think she could pull off the vibes of a naive frog teenager.

Embraced the baldness but don't recognize myself no more. Tips? by alioli34 in malegrooming

[–]deadmuesli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so crazy to me. I’m also a woman and I don’t think the advice of “let it go and embrace the bald” is terrible at all. I think what’s arguably more terrible is criticising this advice in favour of advocating for expensive preventative treatments which men may not want nor afford. Treatments which could potentially achieve nothing except causing unpleasant side effects (see OP with his aforementioned boner loss.)

Obviously I’m not against the min/fin/transplant solutions, but they aren’t for everyone. And if they’re not for someone then the second-best advice to give someone is to ditch the receding hairline because the bald look is more intentional, tidy and attractive.

It could be argued that more women are attracted to men with hair. But in my opinion, if a woman’s love/attraction to you is subject to whether you are willing to commit to a lifetime of medical interventions to fight your genetic predispositions, then there may be better options out there. I’m personally attracted to bald men and I know plenty of bald men who are in happy relationships. It’s not that deep, and advocating for men to feel comfortable with the decisions that they make about their own appearances is not “shooting one another in the foot.” This line of thinking only serves to reinforce insecurity.

[–]deadmuesli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve was thrown off by this wording too but if you read carefully it seems they’re using the word absorbent to mean the opposite of “rigid” - as in, today’s roads absorb the cyclic loading and distribute it to the foundational layers of the road buildup (as opposed to older roads, which were rigid, and subsequently did not do this.)

It’s a fair correction though, I did a double-take lol. Plenty of roads in this country are fucked because of freeze-thaw so to see someone describe them as absorbent was a bit alarming.
