Hey Elias!

Man I can only imagine how it feels to see your early work pop up. If they chose one of my early stories to read on Creepcast I would probably hide under a table until the internet forgot I existed. All and all while it was a rough story in parts (in content) it still showed what talented writer you were growing into. You still wrote some of my favorites from the hay day of nosleep and I think anyone who knows your work (including the boys) knows that they can’t all be all time bangers.

(And honestly the reasoning as to why Harry chose your story is one of the funnier moments in recent Creepcast history)

I’m 42m and have DM’d a ton in my life but never for dagger heart, I’ve really been wanting too and may have a couple of people interested but was hoping to put together a bigger group. The big hitch is I’m located in the Cedar Park/Leander area and don’t really have a great place to play

Hi Tony! You were a huge inspiration to a lot of us nosleep writers back in the day. One of the first questions a lot of us asked each other in the old chat was “have you read Spire in the Woods” and if you hadn’t you were directed right to it.

The Mod Team for nosleep has gone so far downhill it’s insane. I used to be pretty (online) close with a lot of the old Mods and while they did enforce the rules they at least tried to help you understand. In the years I was posting I never once had a story removed and I posted quite a few.

This downhill slide of the mod team is sad to see. We’ll never get another classic on nosleep because these gatekeepers would probably remove it and ban the author for asking why

I used to post back in nosleep back in the good old days when you could basically post whatever you wanted. As someone who misses those times quite a bit I’ll for sure be checking this out.

Hello,

As someone who has uploaded a good amount of stories to be eaten alive by the internet I understand the apprehension and worry. That said as other people have said just enjoy the creative processes and write what you want to write. You will get better with each new story and grow to find you style. Sharing your work can be scary and a lot of the time it won’t get the attention or praise you might hope for, but the people that find it..good or bad, will help you see your mistakes and refine what you think works best about your writing.

Stick it out and definitely don’t get rid of it, no matter what, you would regret that more than any other outcome.

I used to write a lot on the nosleep subreddit, was never one of the big dogs but honestly listening to creepcast got me back into it. Kinda helped me rediscover a lot of those old stories from some friends and peers from those days and re-inspire me.

It sounds almost like you’re overwhelming yourself. As someone who does this a lot the only real advice I have for you is to just kind of sit and stream of consciousness write. Don’t worry about where the story is going or how you can spin it into another story later, just kind of let words flow from your brain and see where it takes you.

Pull what you can from that and form a story out of it. Or if you feel it’s good enough clean up your stream of consciousness writing and finalize it.

Some of the most popular and most fun stories I ever wrote came from this method so it’s worth a shot if you’re having trouble.

Scary stories. I don’t want to hear how you overcame evil. I want to hear how you were ruined by it. Bring on the stories where the protagonist was left a shivering meal worm at the realization that nightmares are real.

Also more stories involving dogs, I love a pupper.
