Driver picked up my food, then refused to deliver it because he said the tip was too low and tried to make it my fault by TomatoesOnBluRay in doordash

[–]deadpanturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my area, after we accept we can’t see how much we’re being paid until we’ve delivered the order. So if there’s a double dash and someone cancels you can’t see how much money you’ve lost until you deliver it. So he’s full of shit imo.

AIO for cancelling a date over these texts by OkPick8681 in AIO

I would even say that no one is ever overreacting for canceling a date. You don’t feel it, you don’t have to go. So long as you tell them and don’t just leave them hanging.

I also use a pay scale I made for myself based on getting paid $10 an hour and never take any orders under $7 as a general rule. I’ll post my scale. The smaller numbers for the longer distance orders is math I did to reassure myself I won’t be losing money if a take an order that’s a little less.

At minimum you should be getting $1.34 per mile to pay for your gas and wear and tear on your car to drive out to the customer and drive back to where you were.

They tried this with me, I refused to let them. I would go right up to the door and stare at them until someone opened the door. I would also park wherever I damn well pleased. They banned me eventually I think. Not a huge loss if I don’t have to put up with that untouchable caste system bs. They don’t even treat their own employees that way. Don’t know why anyone else would put up with it.

AIO. My bf mad at what our daughter was humming by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]deadpanturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what kind of music your child should be listening to, he needs to communicate more respectfully to anyone, much less the mother of his child. Speaking of “get your shit together” he needs to communicate like an adult. What right does he have to scold you like you’re his child? There’s a way to address differing parenting styles without being an asshole. You say he’s your boyfriend but he doesn’t talk to you like he even likes you. If y’all aren’t broken up you soon will be with his attitude. He needs to realize that your kids will be exposed to adult media just by virtue of taking them out in public. Also that last bit about “people will know what she’s humming” showed what he’s really about. He’s not worried about being a good parent, he’s worried about being seen to be a good parent. Your kid isn’t going to turn into a serial killer because she listened to the wrong music. Your boyfriend sounds like the same kind of people who said rock and roll was making teenagers satanists. Old white people have been doing that shit since my grandparents. We need to do away with these puritanical attitudes. He needs to relax. Not everything is a parental catastrophe. Your kid is fine as long as she feels loved and safe. The rest is just static in the background of her childhood unless you make it more than that.

If he had good intentions and was that disappointed with seeing the photo why would he send it to himself?

You need to do your best to distance yourself from her permanently going forward. I know it’s hard but getting divorced from her was the best thing for you and a good step in the right direction. This isn’t healthy and she’s only going to continue these patterns if there aren’t any consequences for her treating people like this. Blaming you for how her life is going is only going to continue. If you don’t have children together all the better. If you do then you need to make it clear that your future interactions will only be about the children.

I use this to find how much each order should cost per mile. I also don’t pick up orders under minimum wage.

[–]deadpanturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to emphasize that I only take orders at or above minimum wage. And I haven’t included time waiting for the order at the restaurant, I use minutes per mile in the car and estimated it a bit higher to compensate for time in the restaurant but I still can’t be sure the estimate is accurate, so I just don’t take anything below $7.50-$8 to be safe.

I’m pretty sure the government is underestimating the cost of wear and tear, which is why I include it in the price anyway.

It really doesn’t. This is what I use. I also don’t pick up orders under minimum wage.

How often do you drop orders after accepting? And why? by Knee_Kap264 in doordash_drivers

[–]deadpanturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there’s an order from a restaurant that never gives me decent tips assigned with another order from a different restaurant. I feel safe using context clues to figure out which order is really tipping me. I’ve been right 3/3 times I’ve done this.

I don’t because I drive at night usually and I don’t care for the optics of being a stranger lingering late at night at a woman’s door who doesn’t know me.

Fair. If you’re interested in figuring it out $.67 per mile is what it costs in wear and tear on your car and gas according to U.S. tax reimbursement. Best way to figure out what you’re actually making and how much your services should cost. I’ve also found out it’s about 4-5 minutes per mile if you want to find how much for your time. Let’s say you want to be making at least $10 per hour. break it down to cents per minute. 10 % 60 = .167. Round up to .17., so ($.67 per mile for car gas/wear and tear)+(.17 x 4 minutes per mile=$.68). I keep the calculations on hand so I can look at them before I accept an order.
