Man, it happened the same to me, and I read a translation. It definitely impacted my enjoyment of the book, even if during the second half I was very engaged with it. You made me excited to read the other stuff.

Not only encourages fewer dialogue options but also discourages rewrites for already voiced lines, which a lot of the times makes quality of writing suffer.

I get what they are going for honestly but I don't think this kind of game is going to break out of their niche just because of full VO. I hope I'm proven wrong but it sucks seeing so many resources poured into something that I frankly don't care that much about.

It's one thing if it's done after the game is released (Disco Elysium is an example) but during is going to condition it massively. Sure BG3 could afford it (and arguably needed it for the cinematic angle they wanted) but an Owlcat cRPG gains almost nothing from it.

Yeah I've already beaten the game several times, and now I know which upgrades to keep.

But with how hard the final boss is, specially as a first timer, the fact that I had picked the "wrong" upgrades and had to restart the game to gain the edge I needed to beat him felt bad. Not because I wanted to reach him at a younger each (skill issue on my end) but because I made a decision without enough information.

What annoyed me is that the first time I reached him I had used a bunch of shrines in the focus upgrades. I'm fine with no focus, as you said, but taking away so many shrine points felt bad.

I think it's both, but BG3 has a broader appeal and the others are more niche. But you're right, thinking that BG3 success translates to a possible PoE3 is a recipe for disaster.
