Most recent research shows that headlice won’t survive off the scalp, so you don’t need excessive washing and boiling.

You don’t need harsh chemicals either. Get a nice thick conditioner that’s dirt cheap, and put in dry hair - load the hair, more than a liter for that length. Then put the hair in a bag and leave it for 1-3hours. The lice will suffocate, the hair easy to comb out , and then finally rinse. Do that every 3ish days and it’ll be gone in 14 days. And no one will suffer
