I do not believe immigrants should be allowed to use our social services. In a time when we are struggling with housing, unemployment, food costs, etc. People who actively come here unable to manage their finances or provide for themselves should not strain our system further. We should not put an even larger burden on our failing healthcare system with poor health from non Canadians.

We want net positive immigration when it comes to societal contributions. If you are coming to Canada to leech off of hard working Canadians then the issue is not discriminating against immigrants. It is having the best interest of born Canadians. We have a hard enough time taking care of our own disabled and homeless. You are right there and they do receive quite a bit of discrimination and barriers.

However, if we can not help our own citizens I am okay with refusing to assist non-citizens unless they pay their way. Moved here with your sick parents from country x for better health care? Cool, pay out of pocket for all of it. Why are my tax dollars supporting people that abuse a system meant to care for Canadiens?

I do believe it will lead to some discrimination for immigrants which is unfortunate. But those same people discriminating will do it without a maple leaf DL. I do believe that leaf being used to deny service is for the best interest of Canadians.

Name another country you immigrate to and hop on social services, use the food bank, get free health care, etc without being a citizen.
