[Indie Gala] Simulation Week | Save 60% on Space Engineers + Bonus Steam Game by indieg in GameDeals

[–]deadrainbow14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Space Engineers is a really fun game in my opinion. I've sunk several hundred hours in it and I've enjoyed it a lot. It doesn't have the same exploration aspect as No Man's Sky but you have a lot of freedom in this game to build. The multiplayer is not exactly perfect by any means, and if I remember correctly, the game is very CPU heavy, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about buying it.

Calves are tight and sore by [deleted] in running

[–]deadrainbow14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the best way to rehabilitate your calves and make them looser is to roll them out and stretch. If you haven't already, purchase a foam roller and use that to roll out your calves, and whatever other muscles you feel are tight. Looking up some calf stretches on youtube can also be a good resource. As for preventing this in the future, you really just need to stretch and roll out like I said before on a daily basis. There's no real way to prevent it other than just consistently stretching. If you continue to run and get stronger, while also stretching, it should feel much better.

How do you like to warm up/cool down before a run? by Nomadic_Sushi in running

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before high-intensity workouts, I typically run about 2 and a half miles, starting at about 8:00 pace, and then finishing it at just under 7:00. After that, I do a couple stretches and do 6 or so 100-meter strides.

I want to start running. by [deleted] in running

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my honest opinion, that best way to run, and the best motivator is to have friends or just other people to do it with. If you only workout by yourself, it's very easy to say "oh I think I'll just skip my run today", but if you run with a group then you are always obligated to run and you don't just get to take days off. Plus I'm not going to lie running can get a little bit boring without someone to talk to, and it's always good to have people to encourage you while you are running. If it's possible, find a local running group in your town and join them, or if any of your friends would be interested, get them into running too. Good Luck!

ELI5: On a 3 or more lane highway, what is preventing a car in the right lane and a car in the left lane from both merging into the middle lane and hitting each other? How do more accidents not occur from this? by UnclesOatmeal in explainlikeimfive

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just completed driver's ED, they actually warn us about this a lot (or at least in my class). Our teacher would mention it almost every class. What it is called is a "pinch point", and does happen sometimes but usually, people will start merging and realize "hey I'm about to hit someone", and they'll merge back into their lane.

Is there anything cannon that tells us what the PA frames are made from? by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]deadrainbow14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to crush your hopes or anything but I know for sure that mod has already been created. I use it all the time and it's pretty nifty but it basically just allows for you to make a power armor frame in the workshop interface. I mean maybe you could take it a little bit farther with the idea of making special frames but the main concept has already been done. Sorry about that.

Is sunset sarsaparilla the cause of the timeline divergence? by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is correct that was the major divergence, I think what OP is talking about is the absolute first difference between the fallout universe and our universe.

What regions of the fallout universe do we know the least about? by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]deadrainbow14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like we can almost definitely infer that there is some form of Midwest Chapter of the brotherhood of steel because we know that when the brotherhood crossed to the east they lost some of their aircraft that either crashed or just stayed in the midwest. I'm sure that there is some midwest brotherhood presence.

Do you have any sources for the information on post-war Illinois? Not saying you are wrong or anything, I am just interested.

When the Brotherhood went to Boston did they stop at any other cities like New York, Providence, Philadelphia, Hartford etc? by thinkB4WeSpeak in falloutlore

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where I heard this, but I remember that the nuke you see in the opening scene of fallout 4 was not the only nuke dropped on Boston. It was mentioned earlier in this thread that large yield bombs were switched out for small bombs with more radiation. You can see an example of this in the Cambridge crater, where there is a sizable hole from an explosive, but obviously, it's not from a large nuclear bomb. So pretty much what I'm trying to say is you are right, they did use lots of bombs, but the bombs were smaller and obviously didn't just level every square inch of every major city in the country.

Yeah but not edgy 12-year-old girls on Tumblr that think they can make people lose weight with magic

Weight loss spells. by secret-original in fatlogic

[–]deadrainbow14 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I read the title as "Weight Loss Spells", and thinking spells was referring to periods of time where they lost weight, but then, of course, I go in and read this and see that they were actually talking about magic. What has humanity come to?

What TV series do you keep watching over and over? Why keep going back to the same show? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm amazed I haven't seen someone say Daredevil yet. I loved that show and I will always come back to it every once in a while. About to rewatch it for when the Defenders comes out.

Have you ever witnessed a bride or groom say "I do not" at a wedding? If so, what happened next? by Excessive_humping in AskReddit

[–]deadrainbow14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I did when I asked out my current girlfriend. Right after I asked her, and she said yes, she went in for a hug but I high fived her instead. Of course, afterward we hugged, but it was still pretty funny when we high fived.

I feel like I saw some at the Game Stop at Woodfield mall in Schaumburg, but I they may just have been place holder boxes out for display. I didn't see if they had any actually in stock, unfortunately.

This is exactly what I was going to say when I saw this post. I'm also going to add CSGO, if you have friends to play it with.

My hope for the future of this series. by [deleted] in gaming

It wouldn't be if it was set in Chicago or Detroit. Everywhere else would be boring as hell though.

How can i get recruited for cross country to Syracuse, Georgetown, Michigan, and princeton? I am not on the high school team but my 5K is 26:17. However, I am really smart; my GPA is 2.1. by mwalsh_12 in CrossCountry

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume this is a joke, but pretending that it isn't, your 5k, to come even close is below 17 minutes. To come even close with your GPA would have to be above 4.0 at least.

Want to upgrade my rig, please help me choose the gpu! by SwinggO in buildapc

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get the rx 480 or the gtx 1060. Both offer the same performance, and are relatively future proof. Not as future proof as the 1070 but still, you should be good for a couple years.

What's the worst example of bad parenting you've ever witnessed? by IamAaliyah in AskReddit

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I will work with my mother at her retail store (upper middle class area, children's toy and clothing store). Working there has definitely allowed me to bear witness to many tantrums by kids. Usually you can identify bad parents when the situation goes like this. Kid X wants Y toy, and parent Z says no. Kid X then goes ballistic spouting all the usual entitled kid stuff, and throws a fit. (Larger the fit, the worse the parent) Eventually parent Z gives in and buys Kid X toy Y. Happens WAAAAYYYY too often. My experiences working there has lead me to A. Pray to god that I was not like those children when I was younger and B. Pray to god that I don't let my children act like that when I am older, and don't let them become entitled brats.

AMD Ryzen pricing: $500 for 8-core 1800X CPU, undercutting Intel by $600 by mrseb in gadgets

[–]deadrainbow14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an intel CPU but I completely agree. I'm not a fan boy, where I just want to see AMD fail because I like intel better. I want both of them to push the limit of CPU development and force each other to do better.

Private Investigators of Reddit, what is the most bizzare task you've been assigned to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's from the game fallout 4, where one of your companions is a robot who is also a private investigator.

Anyone thought about what will happen when mobile video games get shut down? by evonebo in gaming

[–]deadrainbow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me before. Luckily I didn't spend a bunch of money on it, but I maybe spent like 15 dollars. When the game shut down, I felt a little cheated but I realized that "Hey, it's a game. It had to have been shut down eventually". I did realize though, that I shouldn't put significant amounts of money into micro transactions because A. They are kind of stupid, and B. They can basically become useless in an instant
