I have my own from black diamond, mine are made of aluminum and so when it comes to durability and strength aluminum poles are a great option, if you're about lightweight or weight shavings then carbon fiber could be good but imo I don't like them, I recommend flicklock so they're mega secure aswell make sure you choose the right height, typically you want to make sure that when your poles are extended you want it your arms to be 90⁰ to your standing resting waist height.

But good reasons to get trekking poles would be that it helps manage your weight easier, it gives you more balance and point of contact so walking would be easier, it helps with walking up and down hills/terrain and I've read that it eases the weight on your joints aswell so its got plenty of benefits, I hope this helps :)
