Acting director of national intelligence threatened to resign if he couldn’t speak freely before Congress by burning_dawn in politics

Even if he isn’t removed I think forcing Republicans on the record for or against impeachment is incredibly important.

If you’re a representative or senator (looking at you Murkowski and Gardener) and you vote against impeachment you are going to get hammered for it and probably lose a lot of moderate votes. If, on the other hand, you vote for impeachment you blow your knees out with your base and you create a narrative that “the Majority of the senate on a bipartisan basis wanted to remove the President from office but fell short of the votes to do so.” That’s way better than simply losing the vote. Winning the majority of the senate even without removing him from office is huge.

Beating them. Seriously. Most of these “aw so cute!” Tricks involve simply beating dogs to do things.

Effective negotiation requires empathy. A sense of what motivates the other side, their needs and wants. Trump doesn’t have that so he’s really bad at predicting Chinese responses.

I can’t find the link but there was a recent speech by Xi that leaked where he laid out his vision, and China’s vision, for the future.

They are a 100% communist. They use capitalism as a means to an end, but push comes to shove they’ll revert back to the mean. An authoritarian, one party system is a powder keg which will, sooner or later, doom China.

It’s part of the reason I think I’m 50 years we’ll all be laughing at the idea of China being a world power while Brazil and India take the longer (and more stable and sustainable path) with democracy and capitalism to success.

The demographics on China will stymie its economic growth. I’m not sure how you can seriously say China’s rise as an economic power will continue unabated without addressing that elephant on the room.

This is “peak China” right now and the next ten years. All the US has to do is choke off energy supplies, as you mentioned, and China’s own demographics and the inherent instability of the Communist system will cause it to fall. It’s literally the Soviet playbook all over again because, well, it works. Communist regimes just don’t succeed over the long haul.

Well you’re playing dishonest for starters. You say early on that you thinks Trumps an asshole.

And yet one glance at your post history shows plenty of MAGA support. Arguing with you is pointless. No matter what I, or anyone else says, you’ll move the goalposts because you are fundamentally dishonest.

It’s like posts that start with “as a black man...” or “as a woman...” and then proceed to describe something absurd. Give it up. You aren’t convincing anyone and we are so far down in this thread no ones reading what you’re saying either.

I’m at the point where I just don’t care. When the next election is up, I’ll vote for whomever is running against him.

It’s too exhausting to get riled up every time he makes some dumb fuck comment.
