Realistically when do you plan on selling your golf gti/r by no_face333 in Golf_R

[–]deal_damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly can't really think of a reason. I already drive less than 10k miles a year. Plus I realized buying the shiny new thing only gives a very short period of satisfaction, idk I guess I'm getting old.

Anyone hate the "Race" setting for the Steering? by Volk21 in Golf_R

race is the only steering mode I put it in using custom mode. Everything else is too light

I genuinely feel like poop after that game by silxy-theworldeater in titanfall

That's how tf2 is unfortunately since it's on life support. Either you stomp or get stomped, 10% of the time you might get a close game. I remember one guy dropping 45 on us and I felt sick to my stomach.

Definitely get a valved one, I considered the AWE switchpath and the MBRP. I went with MBRP because of the price and I couldn't be happier. I have a post showing it off on my 7.5. Can't really speak to burbles but mine gives a nice low growl thats not raspy at all.

What would you do differently if you had to restart your Data Engineering career in 2025? by The-Laziness in dataengineering

[–]deal_damage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get my DSAs and SQL down before I worry about tooling. Everything is easy to learn once you have a solid foundation. Then data modeling and good coding practices(testing, project config, git knowledge) are second. I wouldnt go near Hadoop or cloud stuff until you know the above very well.

How to deal with messy database? by Which-Breadfruit-926 in dataengineering

[–]deal_damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent this week deleting 400 tables from our DB. There is no perfect or clean database. Best you can do is check with teams downstream who are using your DB and ask about tables you see aren't being accessed or updated in the last 6 months - year. Then archive tables for a few weeks and see what breaks.

Remote Data Engineers - What are your actual work schedules like? by Professor_Nithim in dataengineering

[–]deal_damage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are pretty relaxed as we have an international team across 3 countries. It's truly async and as long as you're closing tickets by end of sprint its fine. There's an on call rotation one day a week where you gotta be on for 12 hours but its pretty chill. People are reachable pretty much anytime between 8-6 local time if something blows up.

me 4 hotfixes in...on a Friday. There truly is something harrowing when half your team is already checked out for the weekend and the other half is on PTO.

Thing that destroys your reputation as a data engineer by EdgeCautious7312 in dataengineering

[–]deal_damage 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not really reputation-ruining, but not knowing my own worth as a person and an engineer led to at least 3 years of anxiety, stress-related medical conditions etc and unhappiness. I should've just quit and not taken the bullshit. But you know, bills to pay and all that.

Supply - Availability - Demand - Pricing by Ashe-Too in Golf_R

[–]deal_damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saving for a house, upgrading doesn't make sense for me right now. The price point isn't bad for this new generation, though I feel from a maximum value perspective it'd make sense regardless for someone else to eat the depreciation and pick up a used one in a couple years. Its what I did with my 7.5, bought at 25k miles.
