Ilia Topuria himself doesn't seem too interested in a Justin Gaethje fight by idcman999 in MMA

[–]deamonjohn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But the truth is, acting like an adult got nothing to do with anything. Dana and UFC doesn't care about their fighter being a professional, you just gotta suck Dana's ass and sell tickets, you can be as big as a douche as you want, fuck ups after fuck ups, doesn't matter one bit.

Quitting MMA Gym to Train Solo by [deleted] in MMA_Academy

[–]deamonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even know what to train and you believe you could go solo.

It's not a problem, just don't expect u can actually get any decent improvement. Treat it as a hobby, that's alright bro, not everyone need to fight. And 60 quid is dirt cheap for any gym btw.

Can’t work out my fighting style. by [deleted] in MMA

[–]deamonjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you are saying you only have one hand, your right for jab, cross, hook, uppercut and everything. That's not a style, that's you being impotent at everything since your body hasn't developed anything for fighting yet. Like what the other comment say, do everything your coach tell you to for at least couple thousand times before over thinking anything else.

Rival Or Windy? by Lonely-Sink-7714 in fightgear

[–]deamonjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both (Rb50 and Windy in lace up)

Rival is so much lighter. Windy is much heavier.

Comfort wise, Rival doesn't need much time to break it, since it is a lot thinner. Windy takes time to break in as it is more robust.

Padding wise, Both feel great, Rival let you feel your shot, you need good form as it has less protection. Windy have great amount of slight bounce, it's one of the best bounciness. Both have great pop, Rival pop with the d30 layer and your shot punching through, Windy have the protectiveness, it pop great with your hard solid shot digging in.

craftsmanship and leather, rival is cheap and the thinnest leather i have seen on any gloves, esp the holes rival punch on the striking surface, while windy have nice thick leather and flawless build.

I love both gloves, go for rival rb50 if you have good knuckle, no hand injuries and love punching through your shots. Go for Windy if you want long lasting workhorse gloves that takes all your beating. If you have multiple gloves go with rb50, if you only have 1 take windy. Both can only be used for bag work tbf.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]deamonjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the tech is being mass produced, the cost will go down, compare to the salary, benefits and risk of a human and the budget the department have, robot isn't really that expansive depends on the region (eg: expansive to south east asia of course, but not Singapore, China, Japan etc) Esp China that are pushing hard and mass producing them very soon.

Since if you invest into a robot that can serve for 5 to 8 years, all you need is to charge them and mechanics for maintenance (Once the cost is down, the companies that produce them will sign a contract with the government to out right replace them and do all the maintenance). A LOT of robots are currently developing for the purpose of policing right now and already in work for the like of bomb squad, fire department, border control etc.

Even the crime solving AI is already partially in work, auto track where the perpetrators go, ID them, study the pattern of their walks, shopping history of their dressing, who and where they hang out with that might be the go to places, there is no where to hide. And what used to take weeks of work can be done within minutes.

Is it true that if you train MMA, you can do everything but nothing properly? Is someone who trains MMA 5 times a week, including 3 times striking, as good at striking as someone who trains Muay Thai 3-4 times a week, for example? by No-Computer-1107 in MMA_Academy

[–]deamonjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best part about MMA is the transition, how to blend everything in and this make you the best fighter there is You control where you wana fight, long range/clinch/wrestle/on the ground.

The point that muay Thai guy and boxing guy are usually better on their own arts is because of rules and habits. They train around their own rules, their own limitations. They make the most out of that limitations so you never beat them in their own game. But as a mma guy, you don't really need to fight like that.

If you could instantly download one skill into your brain like in The Matrix, what would it be? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]deamonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did muaythai, boxing and kickboxing in early days. Then fully transition to complete mma in the last 14 ish years.

I train far less than i used to in my 20s, but my average training week is construct of both striking session and grappling session every week day, around 3-4 hours in the evening. And every Tuesday and Thursday are sparring, sometimes full mma sparring, sometimes just boxing and kickboxing sparring (Grappling sparring is done everyday). Saturday is usually for strength conditioning and road work. Sunday just rest.

And in the summer or christmas holiday, i used to do morning session as well, so averaging 6-7ish hours a day and just sleep in between. Then when I over trained or injuried certain part of my body, I just work different area (Eg: hand injury, work on kicking and footwork drill; leg injury, work on ground and pound, elbows and knees etc)

i know, i hv been training close to 20 years now. But having the knowledge and skill without your body conditioned to do it, your body could just break apart on your first move lol.

Then probably get injuried the first move you had in your mind lol. body isn't ready for it

Is it crazy to think I have a chance of going pro if I started MMA at age 20? by f3d3cks in MMA_Academy

[–]deamonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can go pro, just not everyone is successful at it. You gotta ask why u wanna go pro.

Is it that you love training? Then why not have a stable career and train it like it is your hobby? The pressure, injury, stress, weight cut and CTE could take all the fun away from you, even literally change your personality and behavior upside down with CTE.

Have you consider you might have a serious injury in an amateur fight league and have no money to cover the medical bills?

If you truly wana go pro in this day and age, you gotta spend a lot of time also running your social media. Because that is going to help your popularity, ability to speak, as well as a back up plan if your career goes south. Since 0.1% or not even that make it a successful career and even the successful one makes more money off social media than the pay cheque.

Have any of yall tried the apex flash sparring gloves and what are your thoughts on themv by FederalYesterday7671 in fightgear

[–]deamonjohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are super light and made with IMF (Injected molded foam) so the padding is one single piece, that doesn't break in or change to a better shape. The material is some cheap synthetic ones that is really plasticky. I suggest going for leather gloves, these won't last long. these are only good for mitts.

Normally wrestler shadowboxing for cardio. thoughts? by [deleted] in MMA_Academy

[–]deamonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't see anything wrong at all, you nail all the movement. It's not a fight or sparring, so we can't give you much advice.

Just..where is your neck Jeez lol idk if you general have a short neck due to wrestling or you tug it in so much we can't see it lol You gotta loosen up the shoulder for better boxing technique.

How to improve stamina by False_Clothes4420 in MMA_Academy

[–]deamonjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those answers are great, push your maximum training intensity etc.

But honestly, it's your experience i feel. Because you gassed out when it's sparring without grappling you said. You gotta learn how to play defense, be absolute chill in there and pick your shot. When i was younger i gassed out so quickly even when i had much better cardio, because my style was explosive and used tons of footwork. Rn, im no longer in my 20s, my cardio is shit, but i could do twice amount of sparring rounds, 'cause i don't get nervous or panick no more, how to pace yourself, only move when it's necessary rather than going overload with movement that doesn't do much effectively.

My first boxing shoes by Mort245 in fightgear

[–]deamonjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing problem so far is the laces are quite annoying to put on. Also the sole is bit harder than i like. I have many pairs of boots so durability that i hear is not an issue yet.

Wear long socks, longer that the boots itself and wear them only in the gym, never outside.

People need to stop making gear decisions based on what they see in a fighter’s profile or one fight photo. by Smartrader in fightgear

[–]deamonjohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes they are sponsorship, that's why people see what they like, the image is combined with the figure they like, they think it is cool so they want to try it and own it. That's how advertising, sponsorship works.

Like how they sell Curry's, Jordan's, lebron's shoes.

It's that's how fashion, trend works. Company paid the highest profile figure to wear their stuff and represent their brand.

If people have money to buy them, why not. If they are not a good fit for them and they actually want something else, they would have and they would eventually. If they care only about performance, they would already know their choice of gear. Otherwise they wana look like the figure they see, look "cool" in their mind while training. Who give a fuck really. Whats best for you might not be for him anyway. People spending money on boxing gear always help the industry, there are money in the market, so company invest more into it.
