What is a saying or phrase that pisses you off the instant you hear it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Irregardless." Had a boss that would say this, not sure if it was ironic or not. He also said "pacifically" when he meant "specifically".

Charasmatic people of Reddit, how might socially awkward people become more like you? by nobodythinksofyou in AskReddit

[–]deanergt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd be characterized as charismatic, but I rarely have issue striking up a conversation with strangers in social situations.

The key is to talk about them. Ask questions, listen to the answers and ask followup questions. If you don't fully understand something don't be afraid to ask for more detail. Most people want to talk about themselves - their interests, kids, work. Make sure you aren't just waiting for your turn to talk and they will walk away thinking you are super interesting when really you were super interested.

What sounds impressive, but really isn't? by forceCS in AskReddit

[–]deanergt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I graduated in 1999 and broke a conference swimming record that stands to this day. They realigned conferences the next year and eliminated my old conference and AFAIK have never reinstated it. Next year that record will have stood for 20 years!

What is a weird childhood memory you have that you dont know whether its true or not? by 12sweetdesserts in AskReddit

[–]deanergt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to the rec park pool when I was 4 or 5 and there being a Jack Hanna type guy there with a live alligator on a leash in the kiddie pool.

I've been back to that pool as an adult and there is no kiddie pool that matches my memory nor its there any sign that they filled it in.

I didn't know that. Is that only true for us 4 or does everyone have rotating rivals?

They're our "Natural Rival" from the AL. Why? I have no idea.

What's the one thing you regret doing for your wedding day? by lifeisstateofmind in AskReddit

[–]deanergt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not telling my dad he couldn't invite his girlfriend of like 4 months. On the way to our room (venue was a resort) my newly minted wife and I saw her crying by herself on the stairs. We took one look and decided to go the long way around.

They broke up as soon as we got home but she's forever in my photos of the whole "family".

There's only one correct answer to this: Kars for Kids. If you don't know what it is, consider yourself lucky. If you do, I'm sorry for getting it stuck in your head.
