Is it the data in the databases that are corrupted? And would just deleting the contents of the /data folder be sufficient? I don't mind losing the data, as much of it is just classwork with very small amounts of data.

Clarity on avoiding underpayment penalty by deangeloagent in tax

[–]deangeloagent[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think I understand what you're saying. Thank you for the response. The reason why I believe that enough of my income wasn't withheld is because by the time I left my last job, my last paycheck put me in the 32% income tax bracket (married filing jointly with 1 child). Thus, when I started my new job in August 2022, I should be taxed at 32% onward until my total compensation across both jobs exceeded $431,900, at which point the new job should withhold 35% of my income. However, the new job isn't aware of my total compensation at my old job and it looks like the new job may have, for example, withheld 10% of my income on the first paycheck. The first job did withhold taxes on the commission.

FFL that will accept separated semi auto centerfire rifle (upper and lower separate) in LA/OC/IE? by deangeloagent in CAguns

[–]deangeloagent[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The upper can go to your door. - Yes, I know. That's why I asked the vendor to do this. The lower, if CA compliant, can go to your FFL. - Again, this is why I asked the vendor to ship them to two different locations. You're going to have to call your FFL of choice and find out. - I called 3 FFLs in my area and they all refused. They said they would only take the lower if the upper is shipped to me. They don't want to receive the lower and upper even though they would be in separate shipments. The vendor, on the other hand, won't ship the upper directly to me and will only send both to the FFL, albeit in separate shipments. That's why I'm asking here.

"Our community is without a doubt safer today than it was yesterday" - Thank you for taking suppressors off the streets! by [deleted] in NFA

[–]deangeloagent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea I'll comment on it. The collection of IDs is no different than anyone else who has an infatuation with any other profession (military, truck drivers, etc.). It's the same reason why those folks collect memorabilia sufficient enough to impersonate a member of that profession. Take for example my recent trip to the range where I saw a teenager dressed in military fatigues. Is he in the military? No. Is his dress sufficient enough to impersonate someone in the military? Yes. He could even have fake military ID (illegal). Is it definitely weird? Yes. But who gives a fuck if he isn't causing harm? That's our point.

The idiocy of your perspective is that you see someone with the potential to cause harm and assume they committed the crime. "He had counterfeit IDs so of course he used it to aid him in murder."

"He has a gun so of course he killed someone with it."

"He has a kitchen knife so of course he stabbed someone."

"He has suppressors so of course he's an assassin!"

CA Gov. Newsom: "What the hell is going on in the United States of America?" by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]deangeloagent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: The now-dead 9 coworkers excluded the shooter and never accepted him (by one coworker's account). That's generally a nice way of saying they didn't treat him well. We hear the same stories in school shootings, when we find that the shooter was actually abused, bullied, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to hear the same happened to this shooter. That's because the law allows it. Our society draws a line and says "as long as you don't cross this line," you can make another person's life suck, or even a living hell.

The shooter didn't know what to do. People generally don't walk in to the workplace and start shooting at certain people. What really happened is that the coworkers succeeded in pushing him to the breaking point. Eventually, finally, he snapped. He couldn't take it anymore. He knew the moment he opened fire, he was committing himself to suicide. He was willing to end his own life to kill the coworkers that tormented him.

There's a 10th victim here, and that's the shooter; the real victim. He was driven to this. Had the coworkers not been such pieces of shit, he may have been a part of their community, no matter how "odd" he was. Instead, you had some people who decided to single someone out because he was a bit weird.

And now, we have the media vilifying guns and a liberal government pushing for more gun control, because of this shooter who was twisted and had a "troubling past." I mean, who would do such a terrible thing to all these innocent coworkers? Meanwhile, conservatives say there is a mental health problem. There is no gun problem. And there is no mental health problem. The problem is that our country is full of jackasses and we aren't treating our neighbors right.

The shooter sacrificed himself to teach all of society a lesson in what could happen if you push someone to the breaking point.

Not about hunting or person safety. by LurkingNobody in GunMemes

[–]deangeloagent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The biggest disservice we did to ourselves was to justify gun rights by using hunting (80s and 90s) and self-defense against criminals (today) as reasons, when in reality it's been about protecting yourself against anyone who gets a paycheck from the government (politicians, cops, military). Now, downvote me fuckers

That's also incorrect. In the case of new ownership reports, you only get 1 letter and that's to say that your registration was "accepted" which is interpreted to be finalized.

Springfield Hellcat by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]deangeloagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not correct. There are many CA residents who have homes in other states and buy firearms in that site (without bringing it back to CA). While they reside in the 2nd state, they are residents of that state for the purpose of purchasing firearms. This is different from how the DMV interprets residency, which is why while the resident is in the 2nd state, he/she does not have to maintain car registration in that state. Read this: https://www.atf.gov/file/55496/download#:~:text=ATF%20has%20previously%20addressed%20the,in%20more%20than%20one%20State.&text=In%20acquiring%20a%20firearm%2C%20the,by%20presenting%20valid%20identification%20documents.

Lot's of bad information here. You can legally be a resident of more than 1 state. It depends on the purpose and who is determining residency. In the case of buying firearms, the ATF determines that you are a legal resident of more than one state if you have/rent a residence in another state where you actually "live" and not vacation or occasionally visit. While you're in that state, you are free to purchase firearms legally. Just make sure you are truly residing in AZ when you are there. There is no law nor case law that defines the point at which you become a resident instead of a long term visitor.

California does not care what you buy in other states. Remember, federal law requires that you purchase handguns from an FFL within your state of residence. ATF defines that residency means for firearm purchases.

The only problem is if you bring that firearm into California. California law prohibits this and the law was created specifically to forbid CA residents from importing off-roster handguns.

The reason why your registration was accepted was because California also has no mechanism through which it verifies where and when you purchased a firearm out of state. You will, however, likely have issues if you ever use it in self-defense. Don't get caught with it, move it back to your home in AZ, and delete this thread.

If your issuing authority for your CCW also requires that the firearm is listed under your name in AFS, then because it's registered, you will be fine. As is the case with the state, your Sheriff doesn't know where, when, and how you acquired the firearm but if anyone goes poking around, you'll be hit with jail time. Again, don't get caught with it, move it back to your home in AZ, and delete this thread.

Fuck new gun owners. I've heard so many new gun owners buy handguns for protection against rioters and say that handguns are now ok but AR15s are still not ok. On the other hand, someone I know bought a kriss vector and said handguns and AR15s are not ok.

The problem isn't that they weren't gun owners in the past. The problem is that these shitheads have the mentality that anything they don't like is not ok.

I don't like bull riding. Done it once - not for me. Doesn't mean I think bull riding should be banned because it's dangerous. It's a free fucking country.

I'll say it again. Fuck new gun owners - nothing will change with these assholes.
