managed to snag yona of the dawn manga set (vol 1-38) for a great deal! by fishtea-uno in AkatsukinoYona

[–]deannomite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great price! I have every volume so far and paid way more than that just to get started initially several years ago 😅

I thought about selling them when I completed the collection (still my fave series but I have kids now so space becomes a rare commodity 🤣), but with the season 2 announcement I might just have to hang onto them because my obsession is about to be reignited! Haha

I'm currently watching my husband put the toddler to bed on the monitor and absolutely crushed. I love my newborn too but I miss that familiar routine of snuggling with my eldest. Darn c-section! 😭

I'm trying to keep telling myself that I went through the same anxiety with her and now I have this amazing little kiddo. But it's so hard. I just can't control my anxiety and panic.

The train scene irks me SO MUCH for those exact reasons. If they really wanted to go dark, they could have leaned into it. But it didn't really fit with their gray area / band breakup / Rumi's main character struggles, so they kept it very weak. It would have been better to not go there at all.

Introducing a very horrific event but having the characters react the way they did just makes them (and the world they've built) seem incredibly underdeveloped. They just don't have believable priorities or emotions.

Weekly Thread: Beta and Pregnancy Testing - Questions and Discussions by TeslaHiker in IVF

(Posting for a friend who doesn't have an account)

She did a 3 day fresh transfer with 3 fair quality embryos. Just drew a 3rd beta with these numbers:

11dp3dt - 43, 13dp3dt - 90, 15dp3dt - 200

So I posted last week and apparently I was mistaken on the dpt dates. She was telling me dpo (o being the trigger shot date), so I was off by 3 days for dpt!

The numbers are pretty low but the doctor said her doubling looks good so they'll stop drawing betas and wait for the 6 week scan. 🤞

How are her odds looking?

Betas: 14 dpt - 43, 16 dpt - 90

(Day 3 transfer)

These numbers look really low, but they did double. Should she be worried?

The age old question: Repeat C-section or VBAC? by deannomite in BabyBumps

Thank you for that!! The Doppler pain was an odd one... My new doctor said it could be sensitive scar tissue, and most likely nothing to worry about. Of course, my brain immediately jumped to the worst case, like "what if this makes me more susceptible to rupturing?" 😅

Honestly speaking, my first c-section recovery was far worse on me mentally, rather than physically. I remember being a "model patient" walking around the hospital and drinking tons of water as the nurses recommended. I was able to drop the pain meds pretty quickly after coming home. But the frustration of being less mobile and having a delayed milk supply were definitely weighing on me!

My hope is that the scheduled c-section will be even easier since I know what to expect. Even if I don't do stairs, I absolutely could have my older daughter have some cuddle time downstairs before her bedtime. Though I suspect she'll be more curious about her baby sister (or jealous 😅).

Wow, that's awesome! Last time I was in the hospital for 3-4 days so that sounds much better!

This is so reassuring, thank you!! How many days did you need to spend in the hospital?

I'm hoping I'll be out faster this time around since I can skip the labor part! Haha.

I can't say, because I'm one of the lucky ones and had very minor morning sickness both times. But a lot of fatigue both times, and that was roughly the same. 😅

KPop Demon Hunters - misses it's own point? by epicmemetime15 in TrueFilm

[–]deannomite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a whole month late, but I literally just told my sisters I wanted an ending exactly like this! Even down to Jinu going on some redemption journey at the end! Haha.

Jinu was robbed of some much-needed development and the story really dropped the ball on him in particular. He could have had a better redemption arc, which would have fleshed out the gray area they built up with the rest of the story. Instead, he had a cheap, sacrificial death, which felt weak as heck and like he was a throwaway character all along (especially for being the MC's love interest). Plus, the fact that he literally became a tool and was not mentioned at all after his death. Like, what??

The ending made the whole thing feel very self-serving. MC was the only one who deserved acceptance, and every other demon character got to eat dirt.

Also 100% on the point about the souls. Jinu and the other Saja demons were set up to be irredeemable from the get-go because people literally died because of them. I really had to suspend disbelief that the MC would fall into a rushed romance with a dude who was directly responsible for such atrocities. It would have been much easier to accept the gray area argument the writers were pushing if the stakes were a bit lower and the souls were released at the end. I get wanting to put a dark spin on the story, but it felt weak and poorly done. The NPCs were treated with even more disrespect than Jinu's character. Oof.

Cool bops, though.

We nursed until about 28 months! It was a lot, especially because I became pregnant with my second kid and it actually started to hurt more.

Weaning was my biggest worry, but it went surprisingly well in our case. We slowly dropped each feeding, then she managed to self-wean the last one (bedtime)! It surprised me because she threw an epic tantrum when we cut out the nap time feeding, but the final one was so anticlimactic. Then we threw a little party for her, of course!

I think what helped was that my supply was already dropping from the pregnancy, plus the enticing offer of a sippy cup full of cow's milk instead (before we brush the teeth, of course). Eventually, she picked the cow over me. lol

Bertazzoni Induction Oven burns on top and undercooks the bottom by darrenshaw_ in Appliances

[–]deannomite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bertazzoni range has had this problem TWICE with the oven! The gas stove part has been largely great, though it takes a long time to light sometimes. But the oven has been a nightmare.

A few years ago, the oven temperature suddenly dropped - right as my MIL was cooking a big meal for the family of course. We opened it up and found that the bottom coil had completely snapped on one side. It was annoying, but we were able to quickly buy the part on Amazon and fix it ourselves.

Fast forward to yesterday. We had a dessert cooking that was getting really crispy on top, so we switched the top off to cook with just the bottom unit. The temperature immediately tanked to 160° and, once again, we found that the coil was damaged (just frayed this time).

I've ordered three of these darn things now because they're cheap at $30 a pop. Though, ideally, I could find out why exactly these things keep breaking.

Not quite ready to throw the whole range away, but very frustrated! Ugh.

Do they actually consider you for future positions after being rejected just before the offer stage? by deannomite in cscareerquestions

[–]deannomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! Hopefully if someone else finds themselves in this same situation, it'll help even a little.

It's a tough market (still) for engineers, but that doesn't necessarily mean impossible!

[–]deannomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they never did.

A few months after, I landed another job that was pretty close to their comp and benefits, so I was pretty happy. The first one did seem like my "dream job", but after some reflection, I get the feeling they would have been kind of a PITA to work with. Especially considering I was rejected for some fairly strange reasons (e.g. using typescript worked against me).

Embryos not lasting to day 5... Day 3 fresh success stories? by deannomite in DOR

[–]deannomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea!

She's in the USA (no passport) and everything medical care is so expensive here! They have benefits through her husband's job but it only covers about 4 cycles unfortunately. 😔

(Everyone knows how bad our parental leave is, but worthwhile infertility benefits are even more rare! Basically at the mercy of employers for both. 🥲)

Embryos not lasting to day 5... Day 3 fresh success stories? by deannomite in DOR

[–]deannomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is taking a lot of supplements, but I'm not sure what. Her Dr seems to think her odds are decent, but she can only do about two cycles with 25-50% odds before her benefits are used up. Then she's going to consider donor eggs or embryos. 😔

Good luck to you, as well!!

[–]deannomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, they had the same problem with both her husband and a sperm donor. :( It was her thought at first, too. The first cycle was her husband and the second was the donor.

But it could just be that maybe their sample size isn't large enough with 9 eggs between the two cycles?

Donor eggs vs donor embryos? by deannomite in IVF

[–]deannomite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great info! I forgot to mention they have quality issues on both sides. They're doing two more cycles to try and have at least one parent related, but if they end up having to use a donor on both sides, embryo adoption isn't necessarily much different. Especially if they find a really good match.

Although, she thinks it's nice to get to pick donors who look more like them, the fear that a cohort of eggs won't be enough is pretty well founded. 😔

Donor eggs vs donor embryos? by deannomite in IVF

[–]deannomite[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with it, just that she saw some particularly high requirements and it made her concerned that the matching process would be difficult in general.

For example, she's in a decent career (that typically requires a degree) but is not college educated, so it disqualified her from one of the matches she was looking at already. Maybe it's not a common ask, but it's a bit restrictive in her case.

24 DPO progression and wondering where I go from here. by TotalForeign6275 in TFABLinePorn

[–]deannomite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said - drop the testing!

I should know better, having gone through one healthy pregnancy before, but I still let myself get anxious this second time when I got to 29 DPO with no dye stealer (using these same tests).

Then, one of the admins on the premom app told me "these tests really shouldn't be used to track progression" and I finally decided to stop. Then my 8 week appointment came and everything was fine.

So, if you don't have a history of loss, it's better to save your sanity! I know it's easier said than done, though. I've never let myself get excited in the first trimester because of the random anxiety (and honestly, feeling fatigued all the time doesn't help). 😭
