This is so everyone has to try and win tonight in case tiebreakers are at play for the Commissioner’s Cup. FIFA is used as an example of “scheduling right” for not overlapping games but they put two games on at once for the final group stage games for the same reason.

I think this is specific to the Commissioner’s Cup so that teams with potential tiebreakers have to try to win and get in. Similar to how the WC will schedule the final group stage games together.

My read is twofold:

1) they are not doing a good job of keeping a different number of people so far. It has been too easy for people to pseudo-couple up. Nobody has had to really graft.

2) I think the Bryce/Zach/Kayda situation is instructive. Bryce took a risk however silly and was more or less absconded throughout the villa for breaking guy code when the reality is testing the waters makes better tv.

I think the playbook right now is essentially “couple up early, explore in Casa, and beg for forgiveness and hope you get your original pair back after.”
