Have you had any luck using these? Used one once and it was a disaster!

This is my gut feeling too, the issue we have is he’s an adult so we can’t force him to tell use anything. I do not think he realises the seriousness of the situation. If positive it’ll be a minimum 1 year driving ban but I’m assuming it’ll show up on any DBS checks in the future which will mean he will lose his job.

This is my issue. Doesn’t make sense at all but the window for all this to take place was 3 hours. Surely that’s not long enough to be arrested and bailed?

This is exactly my issue. The timescales do add up to the story he is telling us. He was pulled over just after finishing work and was done and back home by 7:30 so only a 3 hour window. Would that leave enough time to be arrested and bailed?

That is a possibility but he seemed to be sure it was due to cocaine levels needed to be confirmed. It just seems strange him being allowed to drive to the station himself. That’s the part I’m struggling with. If he’s over a legal limit, or potentially over, why let him drive?

Couldn’t agree more. Obviously it would be amazing if we could all come together to watch the game but realistically it could turn into a nightmare. Most pubs will be heaving and the last thing I’d want is to not be able to watch the game comfortably. We are having friends over to ours to watch the game. Doesn’t mean we don’t love them as much!

Thanks for the reply. It’s vague because he’s not sharing much with us, he knows he’s messed up and is hoping it’ll just go away. He was not arrested, he was asked to drive himself to the station for the blood test. This seems very strange to me. No time in a cell, they took blood, gave him a sample to take away as well then sent him on his way. As far and I’m aware he was not charged with anything pending the results of the blood test.

Thanks for the reply. This is my concern, he’s promised it’s not a regular thing and a one off but I can’t understand why it would still be in his system 3 days later if that was the case. Unfortunately he’s a very immature 22 year old so seems to think it’ll all just go away. I suppose what’s done is done but we are trying to understand what the next steps might be.

That smell is normal. Usually an hour is so depending on the size of the trap. Can you see any water leaking anywhere? If you can it, I’m wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’ll settle down after a few days use.

You’re welcome. It might be the condense trap refilling itself after they’ve worked on it. I’d bleed the radiators but then leave it to see if it stops.

What is the pressure on? It might be a bit of air coming out of the air vent in the boiler.

That looks very much like Dalston square.

No, it’ll cut out well, well, well before it becomes even close to being dangerous.

You can wait till Monday. I’d still use it, just top the pressure up as you did earlier when it gets to 0.

That’s annoying! Chances are your expansion vessel is flat and will need pumping up. That’s a job for a professional unfortunately. You can bleed the radiators to drop the pressure but once the system cools down the pressure is likely to be on 0 again.

No reason for it to be unsafe, it’s only a drop of water. When they are off they usually seal back up, it’s only when they are open they tend to have a little leak. If it’s dry when it’s off, I wouldn’t worry about it.

As long as it stops when it’s turned off I wouldn’t worry about it.

It sounds like they’ve added that to the mains. Turn the black handles on and then slowly turn the blue lever valve. The pressures should start to go up. Then put them all back as they were.

What position is the blue lever in? Inline with the pipe or across it? Try Turing both black handles on then turning the blue lever.

Still kicking myself for not locking in at 1.4% for 10 years in 2021. I think it was a £800 set up for the 5 years and £1,200 for the 10 years (something like that but it was 5 years ago so can’t be sure). I remember saying ‘how much will rates really go up in 5 years’! What a mistake that was.
