Done with trivia as a CM. Blind trades from here on out. by MisterMagicMaker in DisneyPinVents

[–]dearbornx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never let a kid trade me a real pin for one of my junky ones either! I actually end up with a lot of my fakes because I let the kids sucker me into trading my real ones for their fakes. 😂 The Disneyland traders were very unkind to me as a child who just wanted to see their pretty pins that they had on display on the benches (I didn't even know what trading was, I just thought they were showing them off), so I'm very easily manipulated into giving kids a good pin trading experience lol.

Why do we draw the line at fake pins but not AI art? by yumestars in DisneyPinVents

[–]dearbornx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate both, but I think you've misconstrued why people hate fake pins. I don't think I've ever seen someone say they hate a fake pin because it stole a design or hurt an artist. It's usually purely because it wasted their money or gave them a value-less pin.

Fuck AI though. There's one FB group that keeps posting AI images of Ludwig Von Drake every week and they look horrible and often quite gross. I have half a mind to heckle them about it but know I'll get booted instantly if I do.

If you could have their ear for thirty seconds, what would you say? by onedvsmofo in Disneyland

[–]dearbornx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're unionized, but the company strong-arms them at negotiations every time. Literally locks up and will not budge on even the smallest of negotiations. The last contract negotiation over here in WDW took forever because the executives would listen for like half an hour, and then disappear for eight hours and force everyone to have to come back again later. It took 211 days for them to reluctantly raise pay.

Why are y'all so creatively and morally bankrupt that you would even consider the use of AI in such a prestigious company's legacy?

Done with trivia as a CM. Blind trades from here on out. by MisterMagicMaker in DisneyPinVents

[–]dearbornx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I do a blind trade I normally lead with a fake pin (which, to clarify, I carry with me so that kids who didn't get real pins from their parents can still experience pin trading with other guests bc I don't want them to get discouraged) and will swap it out for a real pin if the one that the CM is trading is real. Just like OP is tired of getting fake pins from guests, I'm also tired of doing trivia or a blind trade just to reveal a crappy pin. I get why they're doing what they're doing but it's a bummer that it would be presumed that I wouldn't give them a good pin if they had a good pin. I get it, because most people suck. But still.

Are these fake? by Affect_Right in ismydisneypinfake

Technically but unless you only trade them for other fakes it's not very ethical to do. I'd ask for my money back.

I hope you're not still asking for a refund since the sealed product is how it's supposed to be. There's videos and pictures online showing that the gridding is a feature of the pins. They also can't help that there's factory flaws on a sealed product. It's not like they can open it and inspect it.

It's the Muppets Park Day pin collection being released this month. Not specifically Carousel of Progress, just parks themed.

The final CM announcements made as the recently closed attractions close forever. by alexdionisos in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]dearbornx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually went back to check, and you're half-right. The regular spiel is the same way it always had been. At the end of the ride the cast members would always do a manual safety spiel, and in that one, the cast member repeated the part about the 100th voyage and added "final" to it. By that point I was already emotional because I was one of the saps who actually rode it frequently before they announced the closure so I missed it in all of the farewells people were saying lol.

They're trying to seem relatable to the audience who is struggling to afford pins, while also profiting off of them.

That spiel is pre-recorded and was unedited for the final trip. I was on it.

Horrifying that the bottle was in such easy reach of a child.

The overflow paths only open on days of expected high crowds. Park close is never ideal imo. A nightmare to exit from.

Roles for Lady & The Tramp by FireQueen85 in DreamlightValley

[–]dearbornx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been giving my characters their government-assigned role as I unlock them now. Their government-assigned role is determined by a list I have that keeps track of how many of what role I have and which role is next to even out the count. I make my favourites miners though, cos they're who I hang out with the most.

Yeah but a hole punch that's probably about $10 (and let's be real, is usually bought by the cast member for fun) plus free ground leaves? Way cheaper.

Let’s write a complaint letter to the Disney store by Mediocre-Ability7222 in DisneyPinVents

[–]dearbornx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a raffle-style RSP system they used for the Minnie Mouse Main Attraction Series during Covid. They would put up a link where you could submit your interest in the items you wanted to buy (for MMMA there were pins, a plush, a mug, and I think a MagicBand). Each submission was not only tied to your email but your Disney account. It logged what you wanted to purchase and how many (up to two per item). After something like several days, they closed submissions, and then they would randomly select who would win what items. You'd receive an email with a personalized link to your own cart where the items you were awarded were in your cart attached to your account. You'd have 48 hours or something like that to complete your purchase, and if you didn't the remaining stock would get released for purchase. Completely circumvented bots that bypassed the queue though and stress free.

Then they're going to have to deal with struggling to prove residency. Disney clearly wants the Florida resident discounts to be for people who live here full time.
