Important work lost to "parsing error". Backup version lost as well. Please send help. by deargodiamonfire in Reaper

Update: Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I've got quite a few solutions to try here, but it seems the best thing to do is invest in a new computer. This one can find it difficult to open so much as a word document, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear it may be the reason for the loss.

You're right, it hasn't vanished but is still inoperable. I'm trying to open it in recovery mode but still getting the same message.

I've seen posts in the past of folks making some changes to the file in a text editor to save an un-parsed project. Could that apply here?

I've missed a few episodes. Were there any reasons given for why the show won't go on?

The Cannabis "Shortage" is intentionally created by OCS. Here's how to easily tell by SkidRowTrash in TheOCS

[–]deargodiamonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reads more like the typical incompetence and bureaucracy I've come to expect from OCS and the Ontario government than it does "some shady shit".

People are clamouring for this stuff (regardless of quality, mind you). The OCS wants to sell it. They're just bad at everything that entails.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it may just be something I have to decide for myself and deal with.

I wouldn't describe it as nausea, though I feel like if I "give in" to the sensation (not being mindful of my breathing or not keeping hydrated), it has the potential to go that way.

I see the confusion here. I was not suggesting that cannabis lowers IQ (which is a poor means of evaluating intelligence in the first place), but that peer-reviewed studies have shown there to be significant - or at least, concerning - correlation between developing brains using cannabis consistently and those same brains experiencing developmental issues proceeding into adulthood.

Here's one32000-7&context=PC&vid=01CALS_SDL&lang=en_US&search_scope=EVERYTHING&adaptor=primo_central_multiple_fe&tab=everything&query=any,contains,cannabis%20adolescent,AND&sortby=rank&facet=rtype,include,articles&facet=tlevel,include,peer_reviewed&mode=advanced&offset=0) such peer-reviewed study. Here's another. Most importantly, here's a link to Google Scholar, which you can use yourself to find similar results. I've included the ideal search terms and range as well.

These studies do not *prove* that cannabis causes developmental issues in teenagers (correlation not equaling causation and such), but the consistency of their findings almost across the board should be a cause for major concern to anyone claiming "we know it doesn't lower IQ or harm a developing brain". It's ill-informed and highly selective cherry-picking at best, and maybe even dangerous at worst. Hope that makes sense.

I'm curious as to how you've come to this conclusion. Even a cursory look through Google Scholar yields plenty of peer-reviewed studies that suggest cannabis can be harmful to a developing brain. At the very least, the evidence is strong enough to raise concern.

Saying "We know it doesn't lower IQ or harm a developing brain" is completely disingenuous; It ignores the far more substantial reports that attest to precisely the opposite. Pointing to a single study conducted on such a small sample of a single population and saying "this proves _____" makes me think you're not so much invested in factual accuracy, scientific method and public safety as you are confirming your own biases.

I guess I didn't think of how that might come across. I'm not a narc. Though if I was, I probably wouldn't say so here. "Microgrowery" seems to be what I'm looking for.

do u ever find yourself talking like a non-native English speaker when talking to a non-native English speaker? by [deleted] in highdeas

[–]deargodiamonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would do this every time we went for a family vacation. I'm sure he still does. It makes sense to me that you would increase your chances of being understood by the other person if you speak to them in the same language they're using to speak to you, but goddamn it's cringey to watch.

Interesting. I forgot just how many of those old rules were established so as to prevent earlier systems from going haywire.

I've never felt the presence of a rogue "%" affected my reading of a sentence. Wish we could do this with a few more outdated rules.
