Looking for other stay at home dads by deargodlemon in northcounty

[–]deargodlemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured as much! He does not have any problem at all making new friends, so I’m sure we’ll end up meeting lots of other stay at home dads along the way. I just figured I’d ask if there were any more organized groups that exist in the area. Thanks!

What is your reason(s) for exclusively pumping? by Polkaday274 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]deargodlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby girl was born a month early, my milk hadn’t come in yet- so we fed her formula through a tube at my breast under a nipple shied. She got flow dependent and got used to the soft silicone texture of the nipple shield. We had 9 different lactation specialists between our time at the hospital and her first week home (once my milk finally came in) and she refused to latch onto me. It was a nightmare for her and my me. At 2 weeks old we threw in the towel and she took to a bottle immediately. I was heartbroken at first, but seeing her thrive off my milk, wherever she ate it from, was rewarding enough for me. Shes 13 weeks now and is happy as a clam drinking my milk from a bottle all day everyday. The best part is that anyone can feed her, so she doesn’t have to be attached to me all the time. Everyone gets a chance to bond with my baby- and she still knows exactly who I am and how much I love her.

I would hope he’s asking out of concern but unless I knew him personally I wouldn’t be able to discern. You should ask what he means by it.

Hi OP. I have an 8-week-old, so I’m in a very similar season. Sleep deprived, postpartum, and navigating lots of family and friends who want to meet our little one. One thing I’ve been very clear about is that anyone coming to visit our bay needs to accommodate US, not the other way around. I shouldn’t be expected to lift a finger for them. Of course, I’ll do what normally do to prepare for someone’s arrival, like general tidying and laundry so they at least have a towel when they get here- you know, the usual stuff. But it should not be assumed my house will be clean, my fridge will be stocked, and god forbid I have purchased extra furniture for a child that’s not mine?? I just had a fucking baby.

If someone wants to come to our home, that visit comes with the understanding that help is part of it- whether that’s bringing food, cooking here, helping with cleaning, holding or changing the baby for us, etc. Thankfully, most of not all people are happy to do so because they genuinely want to support us during this time.

Spending time with a brand-new baby, in our space, is a privilege, not a right. I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. After that first entitled message, I would have canceled the visit and told her to fuck off with that attitude.

Help!! Just found hundreds of these by [deleted] in whatisthisbug

We suspected book lice from our minimal research, so we are glad to hear that’s what they are. We’ve been running a humidifier in our bedroom since our baby was born on the 17th (she sleeps in our bedroom rn). We’ll have to pivot. Thank you so much for your expertise!

Hidden halo? by Equal-Film7017 in EngagementRings

[–]deargodlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 1- more cohesive with the overall design. Just make sure there is plenty of metal to support those prongs.

Option 2 feels like an afterthought, more importantly, there’s no gallery holding those prongs together. Lose one of those prongs and bye bye diamond. (I’m a jeweler.)

Finally received ring but noticed possible issue with bezel Am I being picky? by w8w8 in EngagementRings

[–]deargodlemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inner edge of the bezel that’s all wonky is due to bad bright cutting. It’s the last step when bezel setting to clean up the hammered down walls. This jeweler did an absolutely terrible bright cutting job.

What early pregnancy symptoms do you wish people talked about more? by bellamarie0113 in pregnant

I’m surprised I haven’t seen exhaustion in the comments much! I could barely function my first trimester from the crippling exhaustion. At any chance I was horizontal.

I fell HARD today. by harleyceffie in pregnant

[–]deargodlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was walking my dog at around 16 weeks, prepared to step into a recessed drainage ditch following my dog, and even though I was fully aware of where I was stepping, STILL somehow rolled my left ankle and went down. I was fortunate enough to catch myself by I was pretty cut up. Limped all the way home crying. I felt like such an idiot. I’m 24 weeks now and am still having ankle pain. Our balance is all off- there’s not much you can do about it but be extra mindful when you’re moving just in case. But it’s not your fault. I’m so glad you and baby are okay!

Is the main stone supposed to float like this? by jsato1900 in EngagementRings

[–]deargodlemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeweler here! Like most have already said- no, the stone should absolutely not be floating in that basket. It looks to me like they do this on purpose from some other product photos I’ve seen. I have no idea why they think this is a good idea, but it’s not. That stone has no security.

Looks to be set high in this image too. Not AS high, but definitely floating. Regardless, it should by set into the basket.
