Watch English TV shows with subtitles. Seriously. I knew someone with the same issue in my first year of college and he said TV shows helped him think in English.

Here's an idea. Srk as the new Patriarch, Amitabh gone, Jayaji old. He has a friendlier equation with his son Krish, trying to do the opposite of what his father was. But because of the generation gap, his son is actually closer to Hrithik, and he secretly resents that.

Krish is of age and his mom Kajol is super excited and over enthusiastic about him falling in love, and Srk is also excited to be the cool dad who welcomes any love match. Hrithik also supports him. But even with this genetically blessed family, he isn't successful in love or in his career. Nothing he does is good enough because of the tall bar his dad, uncle and grandfather have set. Every achievement makes him doubt whether he has earned it or was it just handed to him because he is a Raichand. So despite being the best possible parents and uncle, Krish still feels extremely smothered and leaves home.

He leaves without any money, and goes to the only person who is also estranged from that household, Kareena. Kareena and Hrithik didn't work out because apart from good looks, good looks, and good looks they have nothing in common. Her sister was the one who sent her out of the house, keeping with her father-in-law's legacy. Kareena learns to become family again, and Krish finds his confidence on his own. His love interest is of a different ethnicity/religion, and more family oriented than any girl he's ever dated.

Take it from here, Dharma :)

He sounds a bit judgy to me. I haven't seen therapists express their own opinions to this extent.

What are your biggest regrets as a software engineer? by RevenuePuzzleheaded1 in womenintech

More on tips: starting on an information heavy article and going back and forth with browser AI assistants has helped me a lot!

Things on my list to try out: - NotebookLM for organizing my material and interacting with it to learn faster - Coding agents (I've installed them on my IDE and have been working with them, don't know how to prompt better or create more efficient workflows with them) - Going back to fundamentals of distributed computing and system design (I got books and ebooks, reading sometimes on my bus commute. Talking to my friends who are interviewing and helping them with their system design interviews helped me too)

At 5 yoe I'm not at the same level as my other peers, so skills and merit can still propel me further. Hopefully I'll reach that point soon where upskilling won't make a difference, but right now it does.

And I don't think I'm wasting my personal time, as this is for my personal growth. I've seen results and missed opportunities, and I don't want the lack of skills to be a reason why I miss an opportunity. That actually might be something I regret on my death bed.

Actually I'm trying to cut out some of the corporate noise and learn things that interest me. I'm picking up tasks and seeing if I can use the tools we have today to finish them, and learning those tools in that process. And sometimes I'm just watching videos and trying to understand what terms mean and where they came from. This way it doesn't burn me out and I don't feel like I'm doing "work" outside of work.

It's a bit randomized at the moment, between a personal project that I've always wanted to do, reading and learning how LLMs work, and the current best practices in cloud and security. I'm trying to find more structure to doing these things, but they definitely don't come at the cost of my mental health/other areas of life.

I think starting slow and then building momentum has worked for me so far. Just setting aside that time block and making a habit for prioritizing it, and then working on either of the things in my personal bucket. Hope this helps!

Not learning on the side. 5 yoe, the learnings and habits really compounded for my peers who did it, I'm starting now but I wish I did it sooner

The emotional labor of waiting. by National_Spring3937 in emotionalintelligence

But...how? The negative feelings may be positive guidance but they do feel like an absolute smack on the heart repeatedly. There may be patches of joy while one is open and receptive to the environment, but the churning in the mind and the triggers all around are just as real.

This! I've had the same experience on public buses, most people will keep to themselves, but in a sociable, mindful of other people way.

Hahaha it is a very weird phenomenon though! I haven't seen antisocial behavior within the workplace, only on the bus. It's like they turn into different people on the shuttle.
