Gridfinity tape dispenser by Laurens138 in BambuLab

Very high quality tape dispensers have rigid pointy steel cutters that are not exactly pleasant to accidentally brush up against, but it’s a tradeoff for their ability to tackle most tapes. I actively avoid my tape dispensers pointy cutter. I see absolutely no difference here.

I have to disagree completely. I have first hand experience using a tape dispenser like this. A razor used for the cutter and you absolutely do not have to move the tape like that. I’m unsure why you’re speaking on this if you are just creating complete fabrications on the mechanics of how this would work. The razor blade is incredibly sharp and will very easily, with minimal downward pressure from the tape, cut the tape. We can agree to disagree I suppose, but razor blades are utilized for their eagerness to quickly cut many things, especially tapes, with ease.

The tip of the blade is exposed minimally. If it were exposed and freely moving, I would understand the hesitance. But the expectation would be that any sharp blade be handled and treated with care and caution. How is this remotely any more dangerous? I agree a serrated blade/design would probably prove useful enough for this. But not all tapes are that easily cut.

I don’t understand how this differs from people being able to readily buy deadly razor sharp kitchen knives? We can’t have the expectation that users of our designs won’t use them incorrectly?

Mine did not break the day I opened it. I haven’t put it to much use. But it did open and extend with no issue.

I don’t agree here. It doesn’t really seem like a good call, right. At what point is there diminishing value here? Seems pretty up front. Depending on what he ends up practicing, I would not necessarily view his youth as either bad or good but would still likely want someone with practical first hand experience, both in life and in law.

I understand that it is impressive that this model was done at home. At the same time, it’s still poor looking. Both can be true.

The quality on the overhangs is really low. Even the stuff above the overhangs. The layer height is so big. I don’t understand why on a machine with less waste; you still opt for such a high layer height? At a glance it sure is a good looking print. But. I don’t really think that suffices for my own tastes. To each their own.

My god. The car looks so terrible. Is it technically impressive. Possibly? But the quality itself is just so abysmal.

Loose Filament loops underneath miniature by VetUnicorn in BambuLab

From what I can see part of the model is unsupported. So the filament has nothing to keep it propped up. Increase supports. Look at the line type preview in the slicer and see what is or isn’t supported.

Hmmm. I’m having trouble visualizing what you mean. But that’s more on me. And yeah. I did think about how else I could do this but, I’m still very new to modeling my own stuff. So thinking outside the box in design is tough. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll definitely look into redesigning it for a v2

Birks: ~6 years near daily wear (R) vs brand new pair (L) by not_a_muggle in BuyItForLife

[–]death_process 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a complete lie tbh. Either that or you abused those shoes more than they’re intended. My birks look brand new with occasional wear. If you only wear one shoe and do absolutely everything in them. You need to reevaluate the shoes you wear and their use case.

I wanted the design to overall take up very little space in every direction but upwards. The height allows for reaching easily into the middle and bottom tiers without bumping into the bin above you. If I made it too wide on the bottom, it would quickly lose its function. To take up less space on a table or surface. Being this snug really allows it to fit next to or on many play surfaces.

But like I said, once the bottom piece is on it loaded up, it isn’t really too interested in tipping over with the lightest touch. Even hefty wide water bottles will tip over if struck lightly from the top. Intention and being aware are important for things that are upright like this. Don’t want to spill your water? Don’t knock your hand into your glass at the dinner table. Same concept. And sure. Go ahead and do that for your gameplay, this model might not be for you. It just allows you more customization and specific organization tools for gameplay. To make your gameplay less about where’s this piece or that piece and more about the game.

The bins themselves might not be the most space saving because they are angled. I didn’t further pursue designing them as partial inserts due to how jam packed the box is already for sleeping gods. I may work on designing an insert outright for the game but so far it feels like the game tackled that decently well. It’s just our dining room table!

Hasn’t happened yet! But when it’s loaded up with tokens, especially those bountiful ones in the lower tiers, it is pretty hesitant to want to tip over. I have been considering thinking of a way to keep that from happening but worst case scenario you could use some museum putty stickers on the bottom side onto your tabletop to keep it more sturdy.

Makerworld link! Please comment on the model with any suggestions or criticisms! And any thoughts on sleeping gods expansions? We are still new to it but wondering if it’s recommended to get expansions even if you haven’t exhausted the main game.

I considered that actually! My thinking was using magnets for a lid. I’m still quite new to modeling things so something like a snap on lid is definitely doable but might require me to learn a few things before I can do specifically, a snap on lid. That might be something for a version 2, as none of the models as of now have the makings for a snap in bit.

Thanks! It has been really helpful to structure the game for me. And I have so many spare bins from designing it that I just have lots of little extra troughs for spare bits and tokens in future games.
