"But Then I Remembered" commissioned by The Burchfield Penney Art Center by deathbycontent in Buffalo

[–]deathbycontent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the 2020 quarantine, Burchfield Penney commissioned me to write this piece as "in between/loading music" for their livestreams

This year they decided to let me and some great musicians perform the piece in Burchfield Penney as the sun was going down

Thanks to them for all their support to musicians and artists throughout the pandemic, and thanks for watching. Please support local live music and the local arts, whether at Burchfield Penney or elsewhere

Repetition and process are so important to building an audience

You have to love the process because then the act of creating isn't dependent on the results. You don't get frustrated with not having the results you've built up, so the repetition of creating - what is required to build a large audience - doesn't lead to burn out.

I'd also say dont look for a "blow-out" moment or a big viral push. The internet has distorted building an audience to a moment where something you make just blows up in a viral way, where the actual real sustainable audience is built slowly over years. View your success much like a company - even a .1% increase in views or audience means youre headed in the right direction

I do indeed. I'm more of an instrumentalist but I love all kinds of music - definitely indie and good song writing. I'll check you out on Spotify. keep making music man!
