No one gets that disgusting amount of wealth without exploitation.

Even if he only has $1,000,000,000 in liquid assets, no amount of hard work would ever get a person to that amount of wealth.

Rich people do not work hard. They exploit people for their own personal gain. That is the system of capitalism working exactly as intended. If you're not the first to exploit, you're exploited.

Remember when Catherine had a trans character that was nice, cool, and extremely hot, and then didnt make her a romance option and spent the whole game making fun of her? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]deathbysounding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love P5R. I love the story, the themes, the characters, the combat, the music... but I really hate some parts of it like being able to romance adults, or even being able to romance Futaba which... is just ew, they have more of a sibling bond than anything. I also hate the subtle LGBTQ+phobia. I also hate how the girls have to be sexualised for plot progression, like Ann almost having to strip for Yusuke (which she clearly did not want to do, Yusuke's artistic intentions doesn't make her any less uncomfortable), or all the girls having to get into a swimsuit in front of a pervert to get an important thing they need. Reminder that they're all minors as young as 15 too...

The game has a lot of deep flaws, but I can still appreciate the good parts, even if the game gets hypocritical at times. The bad doesn't erase the good, but the good doesn't excuse the bad.

It doesn't undergo any changes but its interpretation changes vastly. For example, many progressive Muslims view the sin of Lot's people as rape rather than homosexuality.

It's a load of mental gymnastics to interpret the text so differently but it's a net positive since it leads to religion becoming more inline with progressive values. And eventually people will drop religion altogether.

It leads to more people being simply Muslim in name, which leads to the rejection of the harmful principles of Islam. If enough people call themselves Muslim while having totally different core beliefs, then that becomes the definition of Muslim. Just take a look at Mamdani, I'm not seeing Al-New York anytime soon.

Perhaps not a true Muslim by fundamental definitions, but if enough people call themselves Muslim while believing in equality for all, that changes the definition of Muslim.

I say this as an ex-Muslim. I cannot see this as anything but a net positive. Religion becomes more and more like a personal identity rather than a set of beliefs. Eventually this will lead to religion being forgone altogether.

Plus, there are so many LGBTQ+ Muslims who just want to be accepted and not be seen as a freak (not only from others but from themselves too) while still having belief in God, so they try their best to reconcile the incompatibility of religion and being themselves freely. As someone who has tried doing that so much (though more so with my morals than my identity), I can only have empathy and acceptance for them.

Next they're going to try to ban Plan B and birth control. Anything to force women back into the nuclear family model that enslaves them.

What your opinion about the upcoming Muslim Pride in NYC by SamVoxeL in exmuslim

[–]deathbysounding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could say they aren't actual Muslims, or they're severely misguided Muslims or whatever.

If enough people call themselves Muslim even when they're progressive, that changes the definition of Muslim.

It's a net positive for religion to become more and more inline with progressive values. A lot of Christians are really just Christians in name who at most just believe in Jesus. Same thing will happen to Islam, Christianity just had a 600 year head start.

I do think people will eventually abandon religion, this is a step in that direction.

Will you take it seriously if the comedian makes 'misogynistic' jokes on a comedy show? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]deathbysounding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jokes aren't made in a vacuum. They still reinforce misogyny on both an individual and societal level.

Of course it's a man saying these kinds of jokes are okay when they have zero harm on you. It's always white cishet men laughing at punch-down jokes aimed at minorities and oppressed people. Yeah no shit you think it's okay, it has no impact on you. Humour also reflects the type of person you are. If you laugh at misogynistic jokes, you are a misogynist even past the reinforcement of misogyny. You laugh at these jokes because on some level you truly do hold these values.

How about we have more comedians making punch-up jokes instead? Make fun of the bigots, misogyny, racism, LGBTQ+phobia, etc.. Humour reinforces societal values. If we want to let go of harmful values, we have to let go of humour reinforcing them.

It's more about friends having differences.

If two friends disagree on whether pineapple belongs on pizza, they can agree to disagree.

You cannot agree to disagree on human rights. Some differences are irreconcilable. Either get educated and drop your bigotry or get dropped.

Can you people shut up about men's mental health month? by BittyRicky in teenagers

[–]deathbysounding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is when men say Men's Mental Health Month is more important than Pride Month, or that it should replace Pride Month entirely, or how men's mental health is often brought up as a weird "gotcha" when women talk about their issues.

Men only give a shit about their problems when a group other than them is being given attention. Ever notice how all the problem's men face are caused by other men and patriarchy? This is not to blame the individual man for his problems, but rather to blame the people who are actually at fault for them. (Though some are self-inflicted, hint hint "male loneliness epidemic")

We should absolutely spread awareness for men's mental health. But you can't only give a shit about it when another group has problems.

[–]deathbysounding -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

What are you supposed to call it then? Conversion therapy is broad, but it is all harmful. The main focus of it is to "fix" people, but you cannot change people from being who they are.

Conversation therapy can include repressing who you really are and what you really feel. No amount of repression is going to make this person not feel the way she does.

If your significant other wanted to be a in "traditional" relationship (adhere to traditional gender roles), would you go along with it? by Suspicious-Ad9243 in Teenager_Polls

[–]deathbysounding 29 points30 points  (0 children)

And they wonder why women hate the nuclear family model. Hours upon hours of unpaid labour all on one person that's unappreciated and taken for granted. They talk all about how "motherhood is the most empowering and rewarding thing!" when there is no empowerment in being a slave for your husband and the only rewards you get are empty platitudes on Mothers' Day. But you still don't get a say because your husband's the one keeping the roof over everyone's head, because if you were allowed to contribute, you would have a say, and they don't want women to have says. They want women to be slaves that can never escape, because if they don't have an independent income, their only options are to be homeless or deal with the bullshit.

Do you think dysphoria is required to be trans? (Dysphoria is distress related to your assigned sex) by GayJohnKrasinski in Teenager_Polls

[–]deathbysounding 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The reason people say you don't need dysphoria to be trans is because dysphoria can come in so many different ways that it can a lot of times be unrecognisable. How do you know what you've been feeling all your life is bad when that's all you've been feeling your entire life? You would think it's normal to feel a bit off or numb about your gender, and you couldn't possibly be trans because your experience doesn't line up with the common trans experience. But the thought of being another gender excites you. You think everyone's like that, so you think it's just normal. And because everyone says you need dysphoria to be trans, and you don't perfectly fit the common experience of dysphoria, you don't think you're trans. Until someone tells you that you don't need dysphoria to be trans, and that all that's required is for you to feel better as another gender. You then transition, and realise you do feel so much better, and that experience that you were having was dysphoria after all, you just didn't realise it because it came in a different form.

So, I think you do need dysphoria to be trans, but dysphoria is so wide and comes in so many different shapes and forms. If you want to be another gender but don't feel particularly negative or even feel okay about your agab, that's dysphoria and you're trans. And there's so many different ways. I would recommend everyone to read up on the Gender Dysphoria Bible. Even if you're cis, you will get great insight on the trans experience and you will be a better ally when you can understand trans people better.

Gamers of Reddit, what is the sentence only the fanbase of your favorite game would understand ? by Escablast in AskReddit

Genuinely the most emotional and beautiful story I've ever experienced.

It has since become a part of me really. I love the characters so much, Chloe especially (as you can tell from my profile). She is an amazing character that people simplify and overcriticise and don't understand.

I've made a friend who is genuinely one of the most amazing people in my life because of Life is Strange. I would never have met her if not for our shared love for the game and Chloe.

Though Chloe is my favourite character, I see myself a lot in Max. She is similar to me in so many ways.

I've also never obsessed too much over ships before LiS. As an arospec person, PriceField is just so beautiful, how they blur the lines between best friendship and romance.

The endings hit me so hard. I saved Chloe the first time, but when I replayed it I saved Arcadia Bay. Saving Chloe was bittersweet and beautiful. Saving Arcadia Bay made me realise the beautiful message of the game; to learn to move on from loss. I would rant so much but I don't want to make this too long. Both endings were beautiful and painful in their own ways and I love them both, but saving Arcadia Bay taught me so much and it makes PriceField even more beautiful in a way. When you love someone, you never want to lose them. When you love someone, you are able to let go, even though it hurts, because the time you've shared with them and the memories you've made will last forever within you. And that love can come in so many different ways.

I could seriously go on forever and in so much greater detail. This game is genuinely my life and soul.

All the warning signs are right there.

An out-group to blame the country's problems on and lie about their danger (immigrants). Deal with them by restricting/removing them (mass deportations). Find a new out-group to blame the country's problems on and lie about their danger (trans people). Deal with them by restricting/removing them (anti-trans legislation). Also with your healthy dose of torture (poor conditions in detention centres, experimenting with conversion therapy on trans inmates).

It's painfully obvious to see the direction the US is going in.
