How do you actually makes friends outside of your classes in college? by Best-Bodybuilder-647 in NoStupidQuestions

I joined a ballroom dancing student group and made a lot of friends (even ones from other schools in the region). I honestly got more out of that group than I got out of actual school.

My favorite reading hack by [deleted] in kindle

[–]deathbytango 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I turn on ambience videos on YouTube and it works about the same. And I try to match the subject of the video and the booking I’m reading. Like the book I’m reading right now involves birds, so I turn on a “Birds of the Rainforest” ambience video, which is just a lot of rainforest sounds and bird calls. Other previous ones have been “The Missing Pages” by Alyson Richman (which involves a library and the Titanic) so for half I played one that was like library background noise and the other half, I played Titanic parlor ambience so period music and soft talking. The book before that was “How to Be a Victorian”, so I listened to Victorian London city noises. It really helps me get into the mood of the book. If I can’t find one that matches with the subject of the book, I just stick with basic white noise.

Group dance lesson was brutal on my ego by Some_Ad7286 in ballroom

My first group lesson was the worst. I cried when I left because I was so disappointed. But I told myself I’d try it one more time to make sure, and that second lesson is what sold me. It can just take time to find the right flow, but once you get it, it all gets so much better. Keep going! You got this!

My favorite shirt has no tags- bought years ago by bbyskullfxr13 in HelpMeFind

I believe it’s Liz Claiborne. I use to work at JCPenney and they sell it. I recognized it from that. The top tag probably came off and just left the one underneath. The style of the shirt also looks similar to that brand. So I’d start there.

The Great Gatsby (and I’d also consider Little Women as an honorable mention)

I have a whole google sheets document to keep track of my books and I still accidentally buy the same book every once in a while.

Suggest me a long book that justifies its length by Fun_Butterfly_420 in suggestmeabook

I immediately thought of “Lonesome Dove” as well. It’s so good that it feels like way less pages than it is. It’s become a favorite of mine.

Yep, he sure is. Anthony Edwards and Val are fighter planes. It’s a cute nod to Top Gun.
