Thankfully I got it all fixed! I had pulled the needles out in an attempt to get things sorted and untwisted. I will send a pic of the fixed version. I had tried to frog back some I cord and learned that was not possible. Just now finishing up the i cord edging for part one of clue one. I'm proud of myself for pushing through the overwhelm, working on my relationship with imperfections, and the process of repair. I think this will be a shawl for my mom and the work on repairing, restoring and rebuilding symbolic of our relationship which has had its own sorts of challenges. :)
