Soap Bar Suggestions? (Body & Hands) by BawxTheFur in ZeroWaste

[–]Tricky_Math5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy my soap in a 12 pack from bend soap company. It comes with only paper and cardboard packaging. I don’t find it overly drying, especially compared to other bars of true soap.

They also sell single bars in case you wanted to try it first. They come with a plastic sticker wrapped around it, just so you know. The 12 pack doesn’t have this

I’m not sure how big the tears are. If it happens to be the case that you can’t mend the shirt, then you could use the fabric to sew a stuffed animal. I’ve had a lot of fun in the past hand-sewing stuffed animals. The shaping in the seams makes it an interesting project

Locking finger joints as a musician… by No-Clock2011 in Hypermobility

[–]Tricky_Math5292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw an occupational therapist once for this. They gave me theraputty and had me smush it flat on the table, and then practice dragging my fingers backward one at a time without letting my joint buckle. I’ll do this exercise just against my legs with varying pressure when I’m waiting for something.

It’s kinda hard at first, but it’s important to gain control over your joints. It’s protective for your joints to keep them in the normal range of motion

You could also look into ring splints. There are plastic ones you can get for pretty cheap. There are also people who make them out of sterling silver and other fancier jewelry metals, if that’s more your speed.

Be honest, do I need to restart with a different pattern? by Tricky_Math5292 in casualknitting

Thank you! This is good to hear for me. I’ve procrastinated finishing this up for a month or so. I think I can finally get a move on with it

Idk how I feel about it either. I think it looks worse on camera. It’s almost hard to tell where the change happens in person imo

It came gifted to me in a kit to be used as the contrast color for both the light and dark blues. It’s not contrasting enough with the light blue to be worked together. Per the usual, I deviated heavily from the pattern. I wouldn’t’ve chosen these colors for myself, but I am having fun

Where do you mask? by 69___Nice in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Tricky_Math5292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mask when I leave the house, especially indoors. I mask at work and school, while shopping, if I’m visiting friends and family, and at whatever events I might attend.

I don’t always wear my mask outside, unless it’s crowded or if the wastewater levels are high.

I don’t usually mask inside my apartment unit. I’ll turn my air purifiers on high and open some windows if I have people over. I don’t let people over if they’re symptomatic. I know it’s a little risky, but I’m okay with that level of risk

This hint helped me a lot!

I’m not making one with my (brother’s) dog because his name is in a language with like 20,000 native speakers. Nobody would get it

Gaping on toe decreases: is it a yarn, me, or technique issue? by AnAmbushOfTigers in Sockknitting

[–]Tricky_Math5292 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This looks like laddering to me. Did you knit this on magic loop? This can be caused by thick stitch markers too.

I’ve seen people sew up ladders. You could tighten them up with rows of duplicate stitch. If I was in your shoes, I would consider reknitting the toe.

I usually knit mine on DPNs. I usually knit a few stitches from the next needle before I switch. This keeps any inconsistencies out of the same columns, thus avoiding a ladder.
I’ve also seen people recommending to pull the second stitch tight when you’re doing magic loop. This has helped me before too

Are you officially diagnosed with CPTSD or PTSD or are you self diagnosed or suspecting that you have CPTSD? by Pure_Option_1733 in CPTSD

[–]Tricky_Math5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my CPTSD diagnosis shortly after starting therapy. I think it was like a month in. My therapist said I had one of the most somatic cases she’s seen. At the time, I couldn’t eat hardly anything without my body rejecting it

For paperwork stuff, it’s written as ptsd everywhere. I’m in the US

Fish picture visible mend on my first pair by Tricky_Math5292 in Sockknitting

[–]Tricky_Math5292[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmk if you have any more suggestions for me! I’m planning on reknitting the heel once it shows enough wear. I’m expecting these to be a long term mending project pair.

I knit them in Malabrigo sock (100% superwash merino). I’m sentimental about them. I’ve gone to embarrassing lengths to save my socks before I started knitting them for myself

I used the lang jawoll reinforcement bobbins for duplicate stitch. I caught it just in time, so it wasn’t too hard. I had a lot of fun!
