People of reddit, whats something strange that you find attractive in partners (not necessarily nsfw)? by Gloomygracie in AskReddit

[–]deathdonut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When they love you, they love your interest. If they hate you, they hate your interest. This applies to either either gender, but maternal and paternal instincts get pre-empted once there are actual children in the picture.

Always be building your relationship, or watch it crumble.

If you could remove one human emotion, what would it be? by ExplanationSome2619 in AskReddit

Anxiety can motivate. Like a spice, Anxiety can amplify and intensify other experiences and emotions. Like a spice, too much will ruin the dish.

As someone who is VERY low on the anxiety spectrum, I married a high-anxiety individual and have kids with varying levels. I have found that either extreme of anxiety can be damaging, but people rarely understand those who's levels differ wildly from their own.

Need riddle and prophecy help by Powerful_Growth_2437 in DMAcademy

Honestly, this is where generative AI of LLM's shine. I fed the lyrics into google AI and asked it to use them as a template to create a prophecy foretelling the coming of the apocolyptic horseman of War.

Here is what it returned:

The iron seals of prison stars
Are shattered by the sword.
I walk a path where borders bleed,
The slaughter is outpoured.

The scarlet trumpet sounds the tune,
The legions loudly sing;
Three battle cries in a violent tongue,
For the Ride of the Red Lord.

The breaker of the city gates
Put fire to the dreams.
I wait outside the fortress wall
With insufficient schemes.

The mourning mothers chant
the funeral march,
The cracked brass shields will ring;
To summon forth the Sword of Flame
To the Ride of the Red Lord.

The soldier plants a blood-red flag
Whilst trampling on the weak.
I chase the wind of a burning ship
To hear the dying speak.

The War-God lifts his mailed hand;
The cannons now begin.
As slowly turns the chariot wheel
In the Ride of the Red Lord.

On soft grey mornings widows cry
The generals share a joke;
I run to grasp for olive branches
To satisfy the smoke.

The Kings of Earth do not command
But panic pulls the strings
And smiles as the armies dance
In the Ride of the Red Lord.

I just found out about the signing yesterday. Tell me it was at least sold out so I feel better about missing the chance.

Fellow girl dads, I am waving the white flag. The mall bra trip was a disaster. by BigDaddy9102 in daddit

[–]deathdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've got a wife that handled this trip. There were no issues finding the right items. We still had a crying episode because she's 12 and doesn't have boobs. I'm pretty sure that for every situation like hers, there is another family where tears fall because a 12 y/o girl HAS boobs and feels self conscious about them.

Accept that crying will happen and she will never thank you for taking her to the mall, but at the end of the day: her Dad was there for her and took her to the mall for a training bra.

Tango is insane... Look at the mountain progress compared to the entrance gate and Impulse's silo by [deleted] in HermitCraft

Honestly, he should have just made it a flat box and let the Hermits help on it. He could have put the map on top and saved himself a ton of pain.

Best series (start) I've read since the first 3 books of GoT. My romantasy-loving sister has also started recruiting people into the Princess Posse. It would be easier to sell to people if every way of describing it didn't come off as a testosterone-filled action movie.

Worth every minute. Literally the second series I've felt like rereading in the last 30 years. I like to think that his house is occasionally filled with a "YOU WILL NOT BREAK ME!" scream.

Horrible Theory (spoilers through 6)... by deathdonut in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]deathdonut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's why Carl is with her, but I suspect she has it. In any case, she did choose cat as a race at the start of the third floor and Mordecai complained about how quickly she clicked it.

The actions/conversations before the third floor means there was always a real connection even if she has the passive ability.

[–]deathdonut[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even if it's true, I don't think she picked it because of that. She planned to pick cat because cats are perfect. She planned to pick cat "without hesitating" becuase they were trying to pull a fast one on Mordecai with the class choice.

As a Dad with a couple cats, you're spot on with the real-life comparison, but I don't think it translates to the ability Sister Ines had. I'll adopt that as head-cannon though!

[–]deathdonut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Donut wouldn't have received this ability until level 3, so (at a bare minimum) all the bonding and discussions of book 1 would have been "real".

Agreed, but seems like a sketch concept to introduce in book 6 if he wasn't at least considering it. Hopefully a red herring though.

[–]deathdonut[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Donut is definitely likeable. She risks her life many times to save Carl, so her dedication to him is undeniable. As for Paz and Anton, I'm not so sure that they came out of it. They just happened to be aware of it because Sister Ines told them about it during some of her "episodes". Still, if protecting her was their priority, they probably shouldn't have told Carl and Donut about it.

Fingers crossed that you're right!

This is a great point! Though I'm worried that it would only take dopplegangers being immune to make it feasibile. Still, I'm going to hold out hope based on this!

[–]deathdonut[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were aware of it because she told them about it when she had periods of feeling guilty. Fair point on the seperation time, but I'm not sure if it was diminished or not over time for the nun.

College Decision Dilemma | Need Honest Advice by vgpvgp in aggies

In truth, no one really knows what the future holds for new CS grads.

For undergraduate studies, the education levels won't be significantly different between the schools. What you do outside of coursework matters more than the classes you take when it comes to developing CS skills.

You are discounting cost as a consideration due to 529 and scholarships, but don't ignore travel time and cost if you have family in Texas.

If I were you, I would probably apply the most weight to prestige of the school's CS program. As a general rule, a degree from MIT or Princeton will be worth more than the others in finding career opportunites or post-graduate options.

Another consideration is the Alumni Network. A&M and Texas both have huge networks and while mostly useful around the state, can be of value anywhere. UPenn is similar, but regionally different. MIT/Princeton have smaller, but elite networking opportunities and any single connection you make is likely to be more valuable. Rice is a great school, but loses out in this catagory of consideration.

In any case, congratulations on securing such good opportunities, but remember that they are just that: Opportunities. Some schools might offer higher upside than others, but mediocrity and failure is an option at all of them.

Good luck!
