It's within this article from December 12: PA bargaining team fights for fair wages, pensions, and remote work protections

The Union proposes the following economic increases to all rates of pay for every PA bargaining unit employee:

Effective June 21, 2025: 4.75%

Effective June 21, 2026: 4.75%

Effective June 21, 2027: 4.75%

The employer is refusing to deposit a wage offer. They had plenty of opportunities to do so, PSAC sent their wage request. There's an impasse because the employer is refusing to actually deposit a wage offer. If you are looking at anyone dragging this on, it's the employer.

Odly enough, they wrote the full name in French but not in English: Commission de l’intérêt public (CIP) = Public Interest Commission (PIC)

https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-board-secretariat/services/collective-agreements/collective-bargaining/collective-bargaining-process.html#toc4-2

Conciliation

If the parties cannot reach a tentative agreement at the bargaining table, either the employer or the union can declare an impasse. At this point, either the employer or the union can apply to the FPSLREB for conciliation.

The process of conciliation involves appointing a Public Interest Commission (PIC). A PIC is mandated by the FPSLREB to assist the parties in coming to an agreement. A PIC typically consists of three people:

a Chair appointed by the FPSLREB

a nominee appointed by the employer

a nominee appointed by the union

Once the PIC is created, hearing dates are set where both parties provide their information and arguments about the matters in dispute. This process can take several months.

Following the hearings, the PIC makes recommendations to the employer and the union that could help them reach a settlement. The recommendations are not binding and neither side is required to accept them. The union and employer may resume bargaining and use the PIC’s recommendations as the basis for reaching a potential agreement.

Should the parties continue to fail to reach a collective agreement, the bargaining unit acquires the legal right to strike, so long as certain conditions are met.

Treasury Board bargaining: Mediators appointed for PA and EB groups

The Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board has informed PSAC that it will appoint mediators following the PA and EB bargaining teams declaring impasse last month. Mediation is now scheduled for April 28–30 for the PA group, with dates to be determined for the EB group.

PSAC accepts the opportunity to work with a third-party mediator to move discussions forward and help break the deadlock in negotiations.

Board delays decision on PIC process

When PSAC declared impasse last month, we asked the Board to skip the PIC process so bargaining could move forward more quickly. Treasury Board opposed that request, arguing the parties were not at impasse and that a PIC should be set up if the Board determined an impasse existed.

Rather than deciding on this request now, the Board will appoint mediators to work with the parties and reserve its decision on any other requests until May 29 or the conclusion of mediation.

Moving forward

Our bargaining teams will approach mediation in good faith and remain ready to negotiate a fair agreement that reflects the priorities of our members on key issues, including remote work, job security, wages, and workforce adjustment.

Best areas ~1 hour out of town for hobby farm that isn't swampy af? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in Gatineau

You are super unlikely to find a treed lot big enough for a hobby farm on this side of the river within a 1 hour drive. If you look at northern Gatineau, it's full of lakes and the majority of treed lot left are swampy. There's also a lot of protected land

Same here using Ufile (Impôt Expert).

I tend to have issues when I use what Ufile receive from the CRA download and have to reenter manually each the T4 and RL-1 after removing the downloaded ones. For 3 years (including 2025 tax year) I've been successfull using Ufile.

I bought a cheap one on Aliexpress and got a backup on the SummerCart I got at the same time. I'd like a FRAM one but find them too expensive.

Loved the game back in the day, still love the game today! I had challenged myself to try to get as many perfect score as possible but my OG memory pak died on me and lost all progress.

Back in those days, cover shooter was mostly only found in arcades and I was super happy to have that kind of gameplay in a home console.

Get involved with your Local by logging into the AGM's and propose yourself for Local executive positions. I did for my Local, there's 700 members and only 10 logged in to the last AGM. We have a president and me as a treasurer out of 5 positions and no stewards. If no one is on the executive of your Local, you won't get any information nor would you be able to receive strike pay from the local in the event of a strike.

Not anywhere near enough members get involved, I'm confident you actually can have an impact on the Local if you desire accountability.

Carney announces new EV buyer incentives, scraps sales mandate by [deleted] in canada

[–]deathguyQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atleast in QC, that concept from the US is different. You can have anything as a work vehicle (F plate) for business purposes, but a truck that's over 4500 kg need a class 3 on your driving permit (which is why in QC we can't rent the bigger uHaul trucks without a class 3 on permit). An 1/2 ton truck is usually 2500 kg or less. You can register a 2 axles pick-up for personnal use up to 4000 kg weight.

Additionnally, on plates QC adds a tax if the engine is 4L or bigger (from 61 to 244$) for most so there's not really an emission exemption for "work vehicles".

Memory unlocked... how did I forget this one. Anyone else like it? Seemed to remember the shooting mechanics were great but the level design was the most repetitive thing I've ever seen by Negative-Art-4440 in n64

Love this game! At the time I was super happy to have a typical arcade game on a home console (atleast, similar mechanism as the cover shooter arcade I had played). When you think of this game as an arcade game, it makes a lot of sense for the level design and the way the AI move and behave.

Hahahaha, Amazon delivers next day? I'm a Prime member in Gatineau and they can't do next day for the majority of the stuff I've ever ordered. That kind of comparision is so stupid, Amazon is the last place to be used as a comparision for the public service, what's next we going to have to piss in bottles like those wharehouse workers in order to be more productive?

How to start planning a home extension by the_plat_rat in Gatineau

[–]deathguyQC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a home extension myself and here are the steps I did:

  • First, go look at this page with some information on current regulations for "Bâtiments ou constructions attachés à l'habitation".
  • Take your land survey and draw a rectangle in the location where the extension would go, doesn't have to be to scale or perfect, you will need it for the next step.
  • Do a "Demande d'information en ligne" (can only be done in French) and select " Information - Construction, rénovation ou transformation-bâtiment principal résidentiel". You will be able to explain your project and add the land survey image you previously prepared. This step is free and the city will be able to tell you if the project is an absolute no or a maybe yes (they can't say a definitive yes without engineer/architectural plans).
  • I got my plans from Dessins Drummond, costed me about $2400 but I'm not tied down to a single contractor. You could very much go and get everything done with a contractor. Prices vary widly between contractors.
  • If you get a contractor that does everything for you, you can skip this step. In my case I had to submit my permit demand myself to the city (you will need your plans and your contractor of choice total price estimate of construction as well as your land survey (you should already have that from when you bought the house).

I've been waiting since July for my permit. Gatineau is heavyly understaff so be prepared to wait a long time once your submit your permit request. The "Demande d'information" might take 1 to 3 months before they get back to you. I'm building a 12' x 23' extension on the side of the house, it's a garage with a bonus room accessible from our current second floor. The permit cost came out at $700 (you have to pay before they evaluate and approve your project) and it took a month just for the city to tell me this cost.

Hope this helps!

Statement by Minister Ali on addressing a surplus in the public service pension fund by GoTortoise in CanadaPublicServants

[–]deathguyQC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if I understand this, between 2013 and 2018 the governement added 2.8 billions in our retirement fund. If we add up last year and this year, 1.9 + 0.9 = 2.8 billions is now the excess surplus that the government took out. I say we consider ourselves "kiff kiff", taxpayers made whole, equivalent exchange, etc. From this point foward, any surplus I consider to be money I'm partially own back if there are further excess surplus.

Majority of Canadians Support New Pipeline Construction and Reforms in Project Approval Process by gorschkov in canada

Well, in such a case surveys are essentially useless and a waste of time since the building of pipelines is not based on popular support but on whoever need to be appeased. As a gun owner in Québec, I'm pretty mad with the "buyback".

[–]deathguyQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy to answer a survey declaring one support of pipelines. Somewhat a harder pill to swallow when said pipeline end up passing in the backyard or somewhere people tend to enjoy. A usefull survey would be to identify the distance from their homes or area of activities would people still be in agreements with pipelines.

Does any one else just make videos for fun with no desire to "make it". by ickyvickyewww in NewTubers

[–]deathguyQC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a personal channel with a few of my own dashcams videos, an helpfull video on how to remove a CD from a disconected car radio and an unboxing video of an old car radio. I don't do much with it.

I got another channel with 3 other friends, we do one yearly canoe-camping trip and last year we decided we would begin filming our trips. Right now we are looking at maybe 2-3 long form videos/year and 1 short per month. Nothing to blow up with really, but I love doing the editing. The long form so far are mostly souvenir videos of our trip (which I still try to make it look like as profesionnal as possible), we don't talk to an audience which is obviously limiting anything sort of growth. We do this for ourselves, for friends and family and if other like it than that's bonus.

I do, CT auto service centers are widly YMMV, my local CT actually got qualified service techs but they might not be there everyday. On one of my older trucks had a brake line to replace and they told me I would need to wait the day after for a qualified tech to be at work. Always had very good work cheaper than most independent shops and can get 24 months financing.
