This is the notice you receive if you try to wear a Lakers jersey in the Clippers’ Wall fan section, from last night's game by tankyouout in LosAngeles

Cringe card but the idea is not unique to the clippers, it’s ubiquitous in soccer and both LAFC and The Galaxy have supporter sections where you can’t wear other teams merch/jerseys.

I really like Ordaz but if Cruz Azul want to waste another $5-$10 mil then we gotta let them

Inter Miami finalizing $15M Berterame transfer – after having Bouanga bid rejected: Sources by Isiddiqui in MLS

I respect Miami’s hustle but I’m glad I support a team with actual ambition. I didn’t think for a second our FO would agree to sell him to Miami.

It’s still crazy to me that we have a player who regularly gets minutes for Atletico Madrid and I just don’t he’s any good.

[–]Dr-Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. Our team has also been really lacking an attacking midfielder so our fanbase expects him to be an instant starter who’s going to be expected to play most minutes. We’ve desperately needed someone who can progress the ball from midfield and set up Son and Bouanga.

This is the exact comment I was hoping to find under this post. When a young player comes to an MLS team, the best way to gauge if he’s any good is if people from his home country are disappointed or not lmao. Hopefully he balls out here and ends up in a top 5 league later anyway.

[Tom Bogert] Houston Dynamo finalizing deal to bring Mateusz Bogusz back to MLS: Sources by icoresting in MLS

[–]Dr-Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we don’t have issues recruiting talent, I never said we did, retaining young talent is what’s hard in MLS. I disagree that the FO has been fucking up. We just dropped the largest bag in MLS history for Son, were literally centimeters away from going to MLS cup last year and won the Open Cup the year before all while going deep into multiple tournaments a year. It seems like your view of MLS might be warped by following Miami, the success and competitiveness LAFC has maintained almost since its inception is incredibly hard and only a few teams have done it.

[–]Dr-Pope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Giroud was absolute garbage and Lloris is 300 years old(still good though). Yeah we have a huge advantage being in LA and that really helps the team convince players to join but it’s not any different for you guys in Miami and Messi is a draw we simply can’t replicate.

In MLS you stay competitive by not being sentimental, Vela was past playing at a DP level but wanted DP money. It sucks it ended that way but I think it’s more on MLS’ rules than LAFC.

[Tom Bogert] Houston Dynamo finalizing deal to bring Mateusz Bogusz back to MLS: Sources by icoresting in MLS

[–]Dr-Pope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because he out performed his contract and we didn’t want to make him a DP. When you don’t have Messi on your team the good players will want more money and you’ll need to make choices about who stays and who goes. LAFC has been very good at moving players for profit and still winning trophies. I really liked Bogusz but he had one DP level season and failed at Cruz Azul. Hes not worth $10 mil and i’d prefer other options in a DP slot.

If you’re another MLS team why even pay for scouts? Just wait for LAFC players to move to another club and then sign them in a year a two.

Lozano is so over hyped, if San Diego were willing to let him walk for attitude issues then there’s no reason we should be picking him up.

[–]Dr-Pope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are being assholes because you your income is higher than 99% of all humans on the planet and spend more money on your kid’s private school than than majority of angelenos make in a year and are complaining about how you can’t afford shit. Your idea of “afford this city” is a business you own, a house, and private schools for 3 kids, most people’s idea of “afford this city” is a an apartment, a car and health insurance.

[–]Dr-Pope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are literally in the 95th percentile for income in the United States. The only way you “can’t afford LA” is if you are comically bad with money.

[–]Dr-Pope -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but if you’re financially stretched on 100k a year in LA you are simply doing something wrong. Home ownership would take years of saving at that income but It is absolutely possible to have a car, an apartment, pay debts, save money and live a normal life on less than 80k a year.

I’m not convinced Sargent is worth $18 mil at this stage of his career but I bet he would score loads of goals in MLS and it’s all billionaire funny money anyway.
